"Books of Rules" (Barry Llewellyn, Harry Johnson) - The Heptones
"Stepping Razor" (Joe Higgs) - Peter Tosh

"Jah No Dead" (Winston Rodney) - Burning Spear
"Satta Massagana" (L. Manning, D. Manning, B. Collins) - Third World
"Natty Take Over" (Justin Hines, Michael Roper) - Justin Hines & the Dominoes

Grease and Purple Rain got the most playback from me during my youth.
Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, I'll give a shout out to Footloose. I played the crap out of that cassette too. Has one of my favorite Sammy Hagar songs on it.

Surprised there weren't more mentions of Valley Girl, although technically there was no soundtrack album to it. Most people (myself included) have the 80s compilations released by Rhino records. Some of the songs on those discs weren't even in the movie.
When a buddy and I would make a roadtrip to LA, we always threw in that disc and played "I La-la-la Love You" by Pat Travers as we'd go down Hollywood Boulevard.

Shit, forgot "Clueless". Wore that CD out. That version of Luscious Jackson's "Here"? Sublime. It also put the Lightning Seeds back on my radar. And it's how I discovered their album "Jollification". One of the best Brit pop albums of the 90's.

I damn near wore out my Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey soundtrack. Honorable mention to Footloose, Rocky IV, and Return of the Jedi for total airtime in my speakers.

Nearly 70 posts without a single mention of Dazed and Confused? This is unacceptable.
I don't even like the movie that much, but the soundtrack is killer.

That movie uses classic rock so well. Fade in with "Sweet Emotion". "Schools Out" for the kids trying to escape paddling. "Jim Dandy to the Rescue" for a ridiculous car chase. "No More Mr. Nice Guy" while Wiley Wiggins is getting beat. Slo-mo walk to "Hurricane". "Right Place, Wrong Time" for the height of a party, "Tuesday's Gone" for the end of a party. "Summer Breeze" for makin' out on a blanket. "Slowride" for goin' to get Aerosmith tickets with some regrets on your mind. Etc. PERFECT! It makes me nostalgic for an era I didn't live through.
