Making 2Pac compilation CD's...

Need advice on a 2Pac mix. On one disc, I want his most poetic, ballad-like songs (Dear Mama, Changes, Do For Love), and on the second, I want his more gangsta sound (2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted, Hail Mary, California Love). Since there is such a large catalogue of 2Pac, I was hoping to get some recommendations on what you'd put on each. Thanks for any help!

It's hard to pick songs when making a 2PAC ... so from 300+ songs, the list came down to 100 songs [50 each category]. So it took me 30minutes+ to decide and debate [with myself] on which songs are the BEST for U... anyway here u go, ENJOY!

Didn't his record label release like 20 2Pac compilation CDs after his death?

no they didn't... they made one greatest hits cd, obviously not divided like this, and they released new material, with many songs that obviously wouldn't appear on the greatest hits.

I think compilations of anyone pretty much suck.

You should listen to Pac the way his actual albums were recorded.

But if you have to get a mix going......
then GerrytheDone seems to know what he's talking about so
go with his list.

And DO NOT BUY the latest Death Row Nu-Mixx Klassic thing.
It's really terrible.....almost hard to believe stupid Suge Knight
would alllow something that bad released with his name on it.

I can't suggest this enough. I sadly bought it, Terrible!

At least I got it off apples music store for like 9 bucks, but it's not worth half that imho.

Oh, this isn't a Death Row label record, it's Koch Records, whoever the f@ck that is. I dont' think Death Row would be something out this bad even.

Wrong, Dead Row released this [KOCH distributed it]

...from another 2PAC thread that I posted this:

Since his death in 1996, a seemingly unlimited supply of 2Pac material has hit stores. Nearly a month after the seventh anniversary of his murder, 2Pac's former record label will add to the list with Death Row Presents 2Pac Nu-Mixx Klazzics.

Unlike the other posthumous 2Pac albums, Nu-Mixxx Klazzics, due October 7, doesn't feature new tracks but rather remixes classic and well-known 2Pac tracks from his days on Death Row Records. Label head Suge Knight, currently in jail oversaw the production of the album, employing in-house beatmakers Tha Row Hitters to remix the songs.

"We decided to take Pac's best tracks and spice them up a bit," said Knight, who, as the project's executive producer, hand-picked the cuts on the collection. "In that way, we could revisit the classics while also offering something new. I think we accomplished our goal and I'm sure that, if he were alive today, Pac would love what we've done."
