This list is indeed horrible.
What really sucks is that Johnny Cash won't be appearing tonight.
On the upside, that Madonna/Christina/Britney performance was interesting.

I have been pretty dissapointed in the awards so far. Usually there are a couple of interesting happenings during the show, but so far, not much (except for the Madonna/Britney/Christina bit)...

I liked Metallica's covers. Very cool, but wish it was longer.
But of course, tonight will be remembered for:

Thanks guesswho, I knew as soon as it happened, "some horndog at dvdtalk will be all over that one." I wish the metallica cover was longer, and wish that cash got the video of the year (well, I think he got a few of the pre show awards.)
Chris Rocks best line was the porn star line
"50 cent has been shot 9 times in the face, about as many times as (spoiler due to content reasons)
Glad good charlotte won viewers choice

At least Snoop and Timberlake acknowledged Johnny Cash as the deserving winner. All those other vids, as decent as they may be (which they mostly are not), just pale next to his.
Oh well, there's always next time.
Just kidding. Not giving Johnny (and June) the award was a big mistake.

I'm wondering if it was due to Johnny not being there..?
If he was, perhaps they would've changed it...lord knows these things don't matter at all..

It's bad enough that singers lip sync, but now rappers are doing it. Um, your just talking and you can't even do that?
Btw, can anyone understand what the hell 50 cent says? I feel like i'm back in russia.
Top 2 lines of the night:
1) "Hey DMX, you've been punked. Oh ya, you've been stabbed"
2) "Good Charlotte? More like mediocre Green Day"

Alright, this is always one of my favorite threads on this board, and one of my favorites to reply to. There's nothing like a ridiculously over-the-top, "generation X" awards show. It's too good to miss...because it's so ridiculous. So we sparked a joint, and checked it out for ourselves.
I can sum up the night in one sentence: if you have any doubts why terrorists attack this country, watch this awards show. Nothing but people flounting diamonds, alcohol, drugs and their egos. And it's just ridiculous. But I'm sure you already knew that. Anyways, here's my thoughts of the show, or those I can remember...
1) The pre-show. Someone please kill John Norris. If you happened to watch the background of every interview, or those not involved, you would've seen plenty of beligerent celebrites, displaying vodka bottles or their eyes practically breathing off reefer. It was just ridiculous. And I love how no one gives a damn about the MTV VJs...like when Norris had to recite his entire previous conversation with Coldplay or someone, while Timberlake didn't even listen for a second off to the side.
2) That Britney Spears, Madonna etc. thing was pretty much just upping what Spears did a couple years ago. Soon they'll all be naked, milking each other's breasts like new mothers. Hey, I'm a guy, had no problem seeing Britney kiss a woman, but it's getting pretty ridiculous. Love the pan to Justin's face during that kiss...they totally planned that one.
3) I love Chris Rock. He RIPPED Timerblake...who looked like a complete tool trying to stand up and, like Rock said, be black. And his R. Kelly joke was great too. I love this guy, have no problem with him at all. And thanks for ripping Good Charlotte as well, who I literally CAN'T STAND. "Punk groups" appealing to 12 year old girls is something I hate. I hope they fall off the planet tomorrow.
4) How stoned was Sean Paul presenting that award? Jesus. Couldn't even read the damn teleprompter.
5) Christina. Sounded like she was out of breath. I dunno, I thought Nelly and his sidekick's little thing before she performed was even more pathetic. Method Man is always good, liked seein' that.
6) Iggy Pop looking for a vein. Oh man, that was funny. And god damn, did he look f'ed up. And AFI winning an MTV award...if anyone else laughed their ass of at that, I feel ya. Man, never thought I'd see that, well, at least years ago.
7) Chris Rock makin' fun of David Spade with the Olson Twins. We also, got to see Justin Timberlake look like a tool again. I'm not gay, I don't like men, but this guy SHOULD NOT be getting Cameron Diaz etc etc.
8) 50 Cent was alright....looked kinda dumb I guess, but I still like him.
At this point I turned it off...maybe I'll watch the rerun...but I don't really care.
I dunno, maybe I'm getting old, but I only watch this show to mock it. At 21, you'd think they're trying to target my audience, but instead they're going for the 12 year old girls and trying to make me dress cooler.

I wish someone would pull the plug on MTV, and all the vile spew it's ruining music with, as well as rotting our youths minds with. It's a shame that a channel that was made for music, is doing nothing more than destroying it, just to sell a little more pimple cream.

My favorite part was during the Madonna/Britney/Skank part where they sang the line that went something like "I can't stand radio, they play the same old song." HAHAHAHA. How ironic. You owe your career to the fact that radio stations play the same old crap.
