DVD Talk Gold Edition
Well, since the thread was started, there have been more than a few Beatles tribute discs released. I don't have time to write out all the artist info, so just click on the links for more details.
-Butchering The Beatles
-This Bird Has Flown
-Jason Falkner (formerly of Jellyfish) also released...
Bedtime With The Beatles
- Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoffs also did "And Your Bird Can Sing" on their Under the Covers, Vol 1 CD.
- Mojo Magazine in the last 6 or so months have also had two Beatles Tribute CD's. The first one, an entire tribute for Revolver, features a most excellent cover of "Here, There & Everywhere" by the band Belarus , which was recorded exclusively for this disc. More recently (within the last two issues) there was also an entire tribute to Sgt. Pepper - although I was far less impressed with that disc.
- The Smithereens also recently released Meet the Smithereens , which is an entire tribute to the Meet The Beatles! album. They've also done a version of "The One After 909" as an earlier B-side.
- Todd Rundgren does a decent version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" on the Songs From The Material World - George Harrison Tribute album. This disc also has other artists covering George's Beatles songs, as well as his solo ones.
- There's also the Jeff Healey Band's Version of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
- The Verve Pipe covered "Strawberry Fields Forever", as well as "I Am The Walrus", but only the former ever got recorded for release.
- Motley Crue did "Helter Skelter" on their Shout At The Devil album.
- Paul Weller also did a live version of "Don't Let Me Down" as a B-side to CD single.
- Deep Blue Something covered "Dear Prudence" as a B-side. Enuff Z' Nuff also did a version of it, as a B-side, too.
- As well as "Daytripper", Cheap Trick also covered "Magical Mystery Tour".
Damn, I know there's lot's more, too , but those are the only one's coming to mind at the moment. I'll add more as they come to me.

This is the first song that came to my mind when I saw the title of this thread...
It's by a band called the Lost Dogs. Not well known, but a great cover version.
There are other Beatles cover versions here:

I found it through a quick Google search looking for the Lost Dogs song. I haven't listened to the other cover versions to give feed back on those.

There is The Pixies doing Wild Honey Pie. And although not a cover, Skinny Puppy's Worlcok has the riff from Helter Skelter in it, as well as samples of Charles Manson singing it.

Arjen Lucassen does Norwegian Wood and For No One on an early album of covers he put out called Strange Hobby.
http://www.ayreon.com/aal/aa_albums_sh.html
Dokken does a good version of Nowhere Man on One Live Night, but that's live.

A little Dave Matthews & The Beatles history...
Dave Matthews Band covered 'You Won't See Me' about 15 years ago live.
Dave Matthews solo performed 'In My Life' at a John Lennon Tribute in 2001.
Back in the summer of 2005 the band played 'Blackbird' as a full band song three times with a great sax solo.
During older acoustic performances of 'Pay For What You Get' and 'Recently', Dave often throws in a verse from 'Norwegian Wood'.
As Dave Matthews & Friends, they often covered 'Hey Bulldog' as one of their closing songs at live performances.
And last, Dave covered 'I Saw Her Standing There' at the 2004 Grammy's with Vince Gill and Pharrell.

U2 covered "Happiness is a Warm Gun" for a b-side to the "Last Night on Earth Single." It's a pretty cool version of the tune. I highly recommend the Ben Folds cover of "Golden Slumbers" from the I am Sam soundtrack. Good stuff.

Oasis and others are doing a full Sgt Pepper's cover for the 40th anniversary. I could do without, but it is nice to see Oasis come down to the level of The Beatles...

OASIS are re-recording the Beatles' album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with a little help from their friends.
The Kaiser Chiefs, The Killers, Razorlight and Travis are among others contributing to the project to mark the LP's 40th anniversary on a Radio 2 special.
And organisers, led by Bob Geldof, are hoping the songs can be released for charity.

The Beatles' original engineer Geoff Emerick will help the groups record the hits with the same analogue equipment used in 1967. He said: "We have borrowed the original mixing desk from Mark Knopfler's studio and will complete the recordings at Abbey Road."
Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher are the Beatles' most famous fans in music.
Radio 2 controller Lesley Douglas said: "This will be a unique radio event, and a very special musical moment."
The two hour show goes out on June 2.

Is this website in a class all by itself, or are there others like it that offer free music?
Back on topic: I heard John Denver doing When I'm 64 - great.

I wonder if there are any "Cheap Trick and Guests" floating around for the Sgt. Peppers Anniv. show at the Hollywood Bowl this past weekend. I have to believe Zander did a great job.

Someone on a previous page mentioned a Beatles-esque song they knew of. Another one is The Offspring's "Why Don't You Get A Job?" which is an obvious reworking of "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da".

For those wanting a little Beatles to send them off to sleep, check out the Rock-a-bye Baby Series and their Beatles CD (they also have CDs of lullabye versions of Smashing Pumpkins, Pink Floyd, and more)
