Yeah, "Suffer Some" is really cool. Dave really goes to town on the solo.
So many bands try to max out the CDs at 75 or 80 minutes, and they just don't have the material to do it effectively. The Audioslave disc is one example of this, in my opinion. It's a good record, but too long, especially because at least the last two tracks are quite weak.
I went for the DVD version since it was only an extra $5 over the CD only. If I didn't go for it, I'd be wondering what I was missing!

This was one of my favorite artists during their heydey. I'm very pleasantly suprised at how good "Strays" is. I'm glad they kept the album length a bit shorter. I find too many artists these days seem to go for quantity for the sake of quality. Not a bad track on it. Navarro's playing is stellar and the rest of the band is top-notch. It certainly didn't hurt having Bob Ezrin produce it. The layers of tracks here are just amazing. I don't think longtime fans will be disappointed.

I bought this a while a go, and listened to it once and was quite impressed. It sounds like Jane's Addiction from start to finish, which is pretty impressive when it's their first studio album in 13 years.
I didn't notice any crappy songs either. I'm not sure what my favorites are, I'll update when I listen to it some more.
Can't wait to see them at Lollapalooza next Friday.

Just a quick note to those of you that purchased the DVD version: there is an easter egg you can access by highlighting the Jane's Addiction logo at the top. You'll be treated to a backstage performance of anothe track from "Strays". I found it easily on my laptop player. Using the remote, I imagine you'd just scroll up to the top and press enter.

I've listened to it about 3 times so far. Thumbs up here!!
My vote also goes to Suffer Some as my favorite track. Price I Pay is good, too, tho!!
They cancelled the lalapalooza show in Syracuse- so I'm hoping Jane's will tour independantly for Strays...

OK, the dvd has live versions of Just Because, Strays, Price You Pay and another Strays.
It has The Riches and yet another version of Strays (alternate).
It has 4 or 5 interviews as well.
Some are videos.

The DVD is worth 4 or 5 dollars if you happen to be a fan of the band and enjoy watching them live.
Saw them on Carson Daly's show last night. They played three songs: "True Nature", "Mountain Song", and "Just Because". It r0x0r3d.

This album should at least have a Top 5 finish in the
Billboard 200 albums chart.
I know the charts are released on Wednesday but has
anyone heard anything on one-day sales etc?

I saw Just Because was #1 on the Modern Rock chart, so I'd imagine Strays is going to do OK.
I'm a huge Jane's fan, and I think Strays is alright, but the lyrics are so totally inane. I also found it odd not hearing a good ol' 7:00-10:00 minute track in there, the new songs are very rock-focused.

I think this album is pretty good. Good enough, in fact, that everytime the cd gets to the song Superhero, I go "what the hell is this crap" and move on to the next song. The rest of the album is solid though.

Jane's Addiction - Three Days DVD 10-07
It seems quite often the release of these music DVDs sneak up without a whole lot of fanfare...here's another!
Documenting the "Relapse" tour of 1997, this fascinating documentary from acclaimed photographer Carter B. Smith presents a glimpse of how the reconvened Jane's Addiction coped with touring again after a lengthy hiatus. Director Smith illustrates the ongoing tensions and problems that arose on the tour, as well as the ecstatic reception the band received from fans. Due to limited screenings "Three Days" has become the stuff of legend among Jane's Addiction fans, now finally available it presents an absorbing look at relations between one of America's most successful alternative bands.
Best price I've found online was at DeepDiscountDVD - $15.22 w/free shipping.

Heh. Periodic decade bumps ?
I picked up Strays back when it first released with the dvd second disc. Initially after listening to the album several times, I didn't think much of it at the time.
Though with that being said, it turned out my copy was mastered with the "cactus data shield" basketcase drm. Excluding the american and possibly the british pressings, it turned out just about all the international variant cd releases of Stray from that time period (circa 2003), were all encoded with the nasty Cactus Data Shield drm.
https://patents.google.com/patent/US6425098B1/en
(Midbar and later Macrovision/Rovi owned Cactus Data Shield).
It basically inserted deliberate bad error correction data approximately every two seconds, such that it would deliberately fool and trip up computer cd-rom drives of that era, to repeatedly re-read the "deliberate bad sectors" and/or cause cd ripping programs to deliberately choke + crash. In a nutshell, it was the equivalent of selling discs which were "pre scratched". On a regular standalone audio-only old school cd player, it would just do an error correction interpolation over the deliberate bad sectors, which in principle would be inaudible. (The latter was the case whenever I played this drm infested Strays cd on my standalone audio cd player).
At the time, Strays was one of several cds I ended up listening to over a hundred times, largely from writing my own computer code to figure out how to get error-free cd rips. I ended up figuring out a lot of the vagarities of cd-rom drives and how the data was structured on redbook standard cd discs (and also cd-rom discs).
In the end, the album grew on me where I thought it held up to their earlier albums in regard to songwriting.

Splurged on the VIP package for Seattle, love Janes and Love and Rockets, so saw it as a great two for one. Get life back in order Perry and hope to see you all one last time.

Re: Jane's Addiction
I saw Jane's open for Love and Rockets in the late '80s. Amazing show, and I was considering this one except it would have been in an arena rather than a 1000-person general admission open floor show. Also, since I saw Love and Rockets last year, the urge to see them again was slightly lessened. Guess I made the right choice to pass on this show.
