It's Happening
3.24.03
Phish will end their summer tour with "It", a 2-day festival held at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine on August 2 + 3, 2003.

"It" will be Phish's first time back to the legendary site which brought you "The Great Went" in 1997 and "Lemonwheel" in 1998. We've spent a great deal of energy on looking at how we can improve the site. Initial plans involve us placing the stage in a central location, allowing fans much closer proximity to the performance area. In addition, we hope to be able to have
everyone be able to park and camp on grass.

As with all Phish festivals, It will feature three sets of Phish each day, as well as numerous attractions and art installations created by talented teams of artists and performers.

Tickets for It go on sale this Thursday, March 27 at 12 NOON via Phish Tickets-by-Mail, located at http://phishtickets.rlc.net, and via Ticketmaster Online at http://ticketmaster.com. Tickets may also be charged by phone at the following Northeast Ticketmaster numbers: 207.775.3331, 617.931.2000, 413.733.2500, 212.307.7171, 802.862.5300, 518.476.1000,
401.331.2211, and 757.671.8100. There is a limit of 6 tickets per person. As we said above, we're making a considerable effort on creating a more comfortable experience, and as a result, the capacity for this year's event has been reduced from years past. We strongly recommend that tickets be purchased well in advance.

We'll be creating a special web site for It that we hope to launch within a couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more info.

Personally, depending on where I'm living at the time, I'm going to try for:

Pittsburgh
2 nights at Camden
"It" in Limestone

I've never been to a Phish "Festival" and I can't think of better one to start with. If the February tour was any indication of how much better a summer tour could be, it should be amazing.

I'm gonna try to do at least one of the west coast two nighters. I wish Shoreline was over the weekend because that would be the easiest place to get for me. Maybe I'll try to hit the Gorge instead. I'm hoping to do "It" as well.

this can't possibly be any worse for me..

1 - pretty much no northeast shows..

2 - two nights in ghetto camden??? (mid week no less)

3 - deer creek shows MID WEEK!

4 - oh yeah, i'm getting MARRIED on 8/2.

this is awful.. first i read about IT, and i was devistated... so ok, i can do camden... nope. middle of the week, and night 2 is my wedding rehersal dinner... so ok, i'll so pittsburgh.. nope. mid-week.

ok, ok, ok... i'll fly out to deer creek and make myself happy with those 3 shows... gotta be th/fri/sat or fri/sat/sun, right?? nope. mon/tues/wed... AGH!!!!

so i don't know WHAT i'm doing right now... i'm most upset about the fest.. i was at cypress, oswego, and lemonwheel, and they were all amazing.. but i can't believe they chose 2 nights in camden.. ugh.. would have much rather had holmdel..

oh, there's this place in CT called the Meadows Music Theatre... yeah.. they might as well knock it down, because CT doesn't get *ANY* bands anymore... huge acts on tour and we're getting NONE: phish, pearl jam, chili peppers, lollapalooza..... AGH!!!!

can you tell i'm a little ticked?

Hmmm... 3 days at Deer Creek is pretty cool, haven't seen them in years and the Creek is the best in the midwest... But I figure the ticket prices will pretty much make my mind up on attending... Phish - at this point in time - are not worth the ~ $40 per that they charged during the winter tour... But, maybe, that's just me I guess... Have some fun though!

So what? They used to play the ampitheatre circuit every summer for $20 a pop... Prices have doubled and it's the same show. Phish have become just like every other rock mammoth, jacking up the ticket prices because they can... I stopped going to shows years ago because the quality of the gigs, IMHO, went south in a hurry... Too sloppy, lame setlists, etc... Not to mention the lot scene, but that's an entirely different subject out of the bands control. Anyhoo... Like I say, have some phun! I'm just venting about the ticket prices and the fact that Phish have gotten too big for their britches... I guess I should stop pissing on the summer tour thread.

Congrats on the marriage...

$137.50 a ticket for "It?"

Ouch.

And they go on sale in two days?

Damn, this is going to be one expensive summer.

eh.. i duno.. remember that all these ampitheatres are now owned by giant money grubbing corporations.. while i do believe that phish has been making every attempt to 'rake it in' since they've come back, i don't think i'd say ticket prices are a big part of that.. a lot of the price hike has to do with the fact that i just stated - large corporations owning these ampitheatres... like i said, phish is still the one of the cheapest tickets in rock.

Congrats on the marriage...
*sigh*... thanks... i think...

yeah, that's tough that they go on sale so soon, but i don't think anyone will have any problem getting tix...

and the price - not bad... figure 2 3-set shows = 3 normal phish shows, which would be $40 a pop = $120... plus you've got camping, and dirty portalets... it's really not a bad deal.

Where's the freaking love for Michigan?! I would have easily paid to go to see them at Pine Knob! Instead they are playing three nights at the Creek. Nice place and all but I don't want my first show(s) to be down there. It's not that amazing of a place anyway.

Grrr....
