Joe Jackson has a new cd with his original band!

For those fans of the albums Look Sharp, I'm the Man and Beat Crazy! he's gotten back together with his old bandmates and released

Volume 4 (Limited Edition Bonus CD)
Joe Jackson

Find it fast while you can get the bonus cd w/new live cuts from the first two albums.

I just started listening to his latest and it's sounding very good.

I have those early discs and really enjoy them. I put together a "hits" collection of his music up to '85 and it's great stuff. I doubt I'll buy this CD mainly because I've really lost interest in the direction he's gone the past decade.

Joe Jackson rules! I like everything he's done (although I've yet to hear his swing album, but he didn't write that, so I'm not too keen).

The reformed band played seven exclusive warm-up gigs in the UK in September 2002, then recorded eleven new tracks at Ridge Farm Studios, Surrey, England, with Joe producing. (There was also a 12th track, a cover of Todd Rundgren's "Couldn't I Just Tell You", for a Todd tribute record to be released some time next year). The album was mixed at The Magic Shop, New York City. According to Joe, this is the best thing the band has done: "I knew these guys were good, but they've surpassed all my expectations!" He describes the album as "High-energy, fun, and in the spirit of the first couple of albums, but more mature. I'm a better writer now, and a better singer. But I've still got a 32-inch waist".

This isn't like the stuff of the last decade or more, but more of a return to the first few cds.

Yeah, I realize it's a return to his early sound, but I guess I've been so uninterested for so long that I'm not really too thrilled.

By the way, I was recently dubbing vinyl to CD and came across a record I own of the "Mike's Murder" soundtrack. Jackson did the music for this movie flop. There is one song on there called "Memphis". If you can find it to download seek it out. GREAT song. This album has never come out on disc.
