When you think of NWA albums do you count Dr. Dre's Solo Album's?
--Rob |
Originally posted by RobStone I was not counting solo albums. The Wu-Tang as a group had 1 good album. Wu-Tang Forever took forever to make and was not worth it. Iron Flag just sucked, and sucked hard. Nas had illmatic, and a few good songs on It was written, after that it was all just music to make music. I am not saying the dude doesn't have talent but what I am saying is he is making commercial music just to get paid. Atleast that's how I feel about it. Also Jay-Z's the Blueprint sucked. HOVA, lol. If I had a catchphrase I could sell a million albums too. --Rob Also Stillmatic and Godson were decent to pretty good I think. Maybe I guess thats just my opinion. |
I sure did. I try to give everything a full test drive before I make a decision. His vocab and flow are no where near where he was when he was just doing cameos on **** like Big L's Lifestyles of the poor and dangerous and even reasonable doubt. It's a shame too because he was the man, too bad. Once you sell out, you never go back.

Everyone knows Forever is bloated but it never the less a terrific album with more than a dozen great beats and highly improved lyricism from most member. The W grows on me as well, but Iron Flag blew.

Picked up a CD by Jedi Mind Tricks today based on this tread. Excellent! I've seen people praise some things here that I've found to be unlistenable, but this is really cool stuff.

Wow, I'm a long time dvdtalker, but never frequented this corner, the music thread, and I agree with most of you guys. I'm glad people out there are still selective with musical preference.
Here's some that might not have been mentioned. Killer Mike >> This guy is hardcore (you guys will prolly agree with his position or rap business) Prince Paul >> Prince Among Thieves is one if not the most underrated rap albums of all time RJD2 >> Nice Stuff More props to Lost Boyz and Gangstarr . Some people that made hiphop fun, and a group that's still true to their game..... + What do you guys think of common doing that coke commercial right after putting out that 10 ways to save hiphop article on RollingStone? Let's keep this thread going, got some nice tips here, oh and let's keep supporting these guys by buying their cds. |

Obviously not much love for <b>Missy Elliott</b>, who at the very least has provided some interesting (in a good way) albums with excellent videos.
And other (surprisingly) unmentioned folks, some less well-known than Missy: <b>Little Brother Murs (& 9th Wonder)</b> early <b>LL Cool J</b> (<i>Radio</i> is classic!) <b>M.I.A.</b> and goin' waaaay back: <b>Gil Scott Heron</b> |
Some vids to help jog some memories. Hope these help
