Today's CDs (2/22)
Suicide -- Suicide
Les Savy Fav -- Rome Upside Down EP
Mekons -- Retreat from Memphis
Clinic -- Walking With Thee
Trail of Dead -- Source Tags & Codes
US Maple -- Acme Thrills
Pinback -- Blue Screen Life
QOTD:
Something I've always wondered: If a band is playing a two or three night stand at a venue, which show is the best to go to?
I could see reasoning for the first show, it could be more spontaneous, they don't feel like they are repeating themselves. But the second night they would be used to the venue's sound, they might be more comfortable in improvising their set a bit more. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Boards of Canada - Geogaddi
Cabaret Voltaire - 2X45
Savage Republic - Ceremonial
Donna Regina - Northern Classic
Christian Kleine - Valis
Various - Acid Drops, Spacedust, and Flying Saucers
I'd say it's a crapshoot regardless.

Elvis Costello - "This Year's Model" reissue
Elvis Costello - "Blood and Chocolate" reissue
Neil Young - "Tonight's the Night"
Archer Prewitt - "White Sky"
Q of D:
The second show is probably your best bet, unless the third show of a three night stand is the end of the tour.

Just got some stuff in the mail:
Lou Reed - "Ecstasy"
Velvet Underground - "Loaded (Fully Loaded Edition)"
Louis Armstrong & Duke Ellington - "The Great Summit: Deluxe Edition"
As for the question, I don't know. I don't believe I've ever been to a concert that was part of a multi-night engagement.

Various Artists - Timeless (Hank Williams Tribute)
Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker
They Might Be Giants - Severe Tire Damage
QOTD: I don't know. My guess is that big "touring productions" might benefit from a night's practice in a particular arena, that bands "coming home" (especially if it's their first show in a venue they've always dreamed of playing) might have more spontanaeity the first night, and that last nights of tours are good things. But I don't think I've ever attended a concert that met one of the above criteria that was also part of a multi-show engagement.
