I have to agree with Mookyman!
When I saw the title of this thread the only movie that popped in my mind was "Invasion of the body snatchers" (1978). I must have been 11 or 12 years old when I saw it on tv and that last shot of Donald Sutherland stayed in my head a long, long time... |
Barton Fink!

Manhattan, although I suppose it's a bit creepier nowadays.

Primal Fear.
Average movie with an excellent performance by Norton, but I can't be the only one who found the last shot highly symobolic...right? |
Primal Fear, bro.

My favorite last shot is Al Pacino's grin at the end of the Devils Advocate |
Gotta love the last shot of Clerks, especially the way the song sets in as it fades.

Dick - Kirsten Dunst & Michelle Williams slobbering over those lollipops inscribed with the movie's name
The Thing (1982) - the burning compound fade-off to the strains of Carpenter's depressing score. There's Something About Mary - Jonathan Richman gets sniped |
At the risk of being obscure, have anyone seen JSA: Joint Security Area yet? It's a military thriller flick from South Korea. I thought the movie was just okay until the last final shot. It's not a plot twist as in The Usual Suspects but it's just a shot that captures the idea of the whole movie perfectly.
The DVD packaging from CJ Entertainment (here ) has the last shot framed on the inside sleeve of the DVD case and it looks awesome. For those who have seen the movie, it captures its essence, but it won't spoil anything for those who hasn't seen it |
North by Northwest; I mean come on, train in the tunnel? Brilliant!

Originally posted by kenny79 Most have outstanding musical accompaniment as well. Traffic (as the camera pans from BDT to the baseball game under the lights) some others mentioned that I agree w/: About Schmidt (the ending was one of the few parts of the movie that I enjoyed - very touching) Field of Dreams (I know a lot of people think it's sappy, but as she turns on the lights for Ray and his dad, its just about perfect, particularly combined w/ the music) |
