Wow....double old thread bump...!

Nothing like a 5.5 year old thread to jar the memories.

I posted on the first page :)

After going over the entire list, I couldn't choose just one. So here is my list of favorite films to win a best picture oscar, in chronological order:

Casablanca
The Lost Weekend
On The Waterfront
Bridge On The River Kwai
West Side Story
Lawrence of Arabia
Patton
The Godfather
The Godfather, Part II
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
Annie Hall
Amadeus
The Silence of the Lambs
Unforgiven
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

If I was forced to choose just one, I would probably go with Annie Hall, but to be honest, I love all of those films.

Also, the list of worst films to win a best picture oscar:
Dances With Wolves
Schindler's List
Gladiator
Oliver!
Ben-Hur
It Happened One Night

And the list of most undeserving best picture winners:
How Green Was My Valley (should have been Citizen Kane)
Mrs. Miniver (should have been The Magnificent Ambersons)
Going My Way (should have been Double Indemnity)
All About Eve (great movie, but not as great as Sunset Boulevard)
An American In Paris (fun, but A Streetcar Named Desire should have won)
My Fair Lady (should definitely have been Dr. Strangelove :D )
A Man For All Seasons (should have been Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?)
Oliver! (should have been The Lion In Winter)
French Connection (should have been A Clockwork Orange)
The Sting (should have been Cries and Whispers)
Rocky (should have been Taxi Driver)
Ordinary People (should have been either The Elephant Man or Raging Bull, no other movie should even have had a chance)
Out of Africa (should have been Kiss of the Spider Woman)
Dances With Wolves (it's embarrassing that Goodfellas lost to this crap)
Forrest Gump (Pulp Fiction! come on!)
Titanic (overwrought, should have been L.A. Confidential)
A Beautiful Mind (should have been The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring)
Chicago (should have been The Pianist)

Of my 10 favorite films, only one has won the Oscar:

Annie Hall

I could pick just one very favorite (On the Waterfront), but then I'd fail to mention others (Annie Hall, The Sting, Casablanca, American Beauty) and that'd be no fun. So, I won't even respond.

busted.
