What movie that has won 'Best Picture' was your favorite?

Mine is American Beauty.

Wonder Boys...oh, wait! That was a dream I was having, that will never happen.

Actually, my favorite has to be either Lawrence of Arabia or The Godfather II.

Casablanca was in 1943 if I remember right lastsho.

Braveheart, with American Beauty a close second, and Shakespeare in Love a close third. Runners up include, Silence of the Lambs, Schindler's List, Dances With Wolves, and others that are slipping my mind. Hopefully Gladiator will take Bravehearts place at the top of the list this year. Or maybe even one of the other movies I've heard great things about but haven't got to see because the theaters in my area suck.

Can't narrow it down to just one, so I'll choose three - Casablanca, The Godfather and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Amadeus by a landslide.

Other honorable contenders:

The English Patient
The Godfather
On the Waterfront

"Cinema Paradiso" but I'm cheating as it's a best foreign film Oscar so....

The first "best picture" on my personal favorites list clocks in at a whopping number 13

"Gone with the Wind"

Here is the list of films that both won the Oscar and are films that I feel can, without reservation, consider worthy (the list gets much longer if I include "deserving but with reservations").

Gone with the Wind
Casablanca
The Godfather
Annie Hall
Amadeus

Certainly "American Beauty" and probably "Shakespeare in Love" will make this list eventually {I feel it takes at least five years and multiple viewings to make the "without reservation" list.

1) The Godfather
2) Lawrence of Arabia
3) The Godfather, Part II
4) Schindler's List
5) Casablanca
6) Bridge on the River Kwai
7) Amadeus
8) Annie Hall
9) Patton
10) Gone with the Wind

And my least favorites:
1) Gandhi
2) Driving Miss Daisy
3) The Sound of Music
4) Titanic
5) Forrest Gump

Plus a special note for "How Green was My Valley" (Best Picture, 1941). Who were these idiots who saw Citizen Kane and came out saying "Well, it's pretty good, but it no 'How Green was My Valley'"?

Can't pick just one so...

The 1930's- "All Quiet on the Western Front"

The 1940's- "The Lost Weekend"

The 1950's- "On the Waterfront"/"All About Eve"

The 1960's- "Midnight Cowboy"/ "Lawrence of Arabia"

The 1970's- "Annie Hall"/"The Godfather"/"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"

The 1980's- "Platoon"

The 1990's- "American Beauty"

If I had to just pick one, I'd probably go with Casablanca.

From the 1930s: It Happened One Night

From the 1940s: Casablanca

From the 1950s: All About Eve

From the 1960s: The Apartment

From the 1970s: Annie Hall

From the 1990s: All About My Mother, but that was Best Foreign Picture

Damn, I think some of you guys have too much time on your hands. Do you guys actually keep top ten lists of movies you like? I've never really even considered it worth my time.

Didn't Deer Hunter win that Oscar? If so, that is by FAR my favorite!
