Spoiler:
that it was trying to throw the viewer off in thinking that maybe the lady will give her up or something or that he is going to pop out again at some point, but it doesn't do that, and I loved it for that.

.

The ending called to my mind the ending of The Sopranos dramatizing Tony's paranoia. At the end of IAVN, our final girl is still nervous out in the woods, watching for him, expecting him to come. She continues to beg for the woman to get her to the hospital, but even there, she won't find the feeling of safety she's looking for. In the days and weeks to come, she'll still be afraid, and watching for him. Maybe it will taper off over the years, but for the rest of her life, she'll be as afraid as she is in that jeep watching the woods.

Good point, but because this movie wanted to show things from the killer's point of view and not the victims', it really loses its effectiveness since we don't really see this final girl much in the movie until she's being stalked. I've never seen this Leslie Vernon movie some of you were talking about, but for me the slasher that shows the movie from the killer's POV and is still effective is Lustig's Maniac. We don't really get to know the victims in that movie much either, but Frank Zito's coldness still makes for a creepy-as-hell slasher flick.
