Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, the documentary from Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui (McQueen), which premiered to critical acclaim out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, has been slated to hit select U.S. theaters via DC Studios and Fathom Events on September 21, with an encore presentation to follow on the late actor’s birthday, September 25. It's being released by DC and coming to Fathom Events this Fall. 2 showings only unfortunately. No trailer yet, but it screened at some film festivals and got rave reviews. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sup...er_reeve_story I know Fathom doesn't qualify for A-List or Regal Unlimited, but I will gladly pay out of pocket to see this. Hopefully a trailer gets released soon. They did show the trailer at CinemaCon last month. |

I know I need to bring the Kleenex before even seeing the trailer for this. sob :(

Re: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
I hope this comes streaming. I would love to see a docu on such an amazing man. Every time I see his son, Will, on Good Morning America on ABC, it reminds so much of him and makes me sad.

Looks like a scene from the documentary leaked
I assume we will get a trailer during Comic Con. |
Re: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
One of my most vivid memories of past Oscars has nothing to do with anyone winning an award. It was when Reeve appeared on stage in his wheelchair and got a (no irony) standing ovation. I remember the camera found Demi Moore with tears in her eyes. No personal connection between them. People just admired and respected him.

Wow. I really look forward to watching this. That clip really brings back a lot of memories of when his injury was first announced and the years that followed.
I wonder if they'll cover the backlash that ensued over that 2000 Super Bowl ad that "showed" him walking via VFX. |

Re: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
The man you knew, the story you didn’t. Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story - Only in Theaters September 21 and September 25. Tickets Now Available #ChristopherReeveStory https://www.fathomevents.com/events/...r-reeve-story/ The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today. Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care - all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family. From the directors of McQueen, Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, this film includes never-before-seen intimate home movies and an extraordinary trove of personal archive material, as well as the first extended interviews ever filmed with Reeve’s three children about their father, and interviews with the A-list Hollywood actors who were Reeve’s colleagues and friends. The film is a moving and vivid cinematic telling of Reeve’s remarkable story. Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is produced by Passion Pictures (Searching For Sugar Man, The Territory) and Misfits Entertainment (McQueen, Rising Phoenix). New York-based production studio Words + Pictures financed and also produced the film. Words+Pictures, founded in 2021 by Connor Schell, is led by the creators and producers of the 30 for 30 series, the Emmy Award-winning The Last Dance, and the 2017 Oscar-winning O.J.: Made in America. The film is a presentation of DC Studios, HBO Documentary Films, CNN Films and Words+Pictures. |

Re: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
Yeah. I just watched it and got through at least half of it dry-eyed. This will be a tough watch for me in the theaters.
Listen for the blubbering old guy in the back slumped down in his seat in the theater and that is probably me. |

That’s some epic music in that trailer!
It’s going to be sad to watch that. There’s a whole lot of people just in the trailer who are no longer with us. |

why did you make me watch this, you bastard! It had me in tears. So heartbreaking and terrific. I know it didn’t and probably bombed as on of the extras mentioned, but Reeve was mesmerizing, truly a site. Great acting, beautiful story. He was a Super/Man!

Re: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
Opens Saturday. There seems to be 2 showings 4pm, and 7pm
There is also showings on Wednesday the 25th Tickets are $15. I know some of you don't like Fathom Events and limited showings. Plus there are no premium shows. But I went ahead and got a ticket for Saturday. I think this is going to be a really moving film and I want to support it. I don't know when it might hit Max. . |
Re: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
Just got back from seeing it. Amazing film. I think this is one of the best of 2024 and one of the best movie documentaries.
A total emotional roller coaster. The Reeve family are amazing and you will see how amazing they are. Since this is playing in super limited release and I don't expect anyone here to see this on Wednesday the 25th (it's last theatrical showing) I hope you all will make the time to see this when it hits Max later this year. The movie is about a man who grew passionate about acting, a father, husband and a tragic love story. A beautiful film even though it ends on a really somber note with Dana Reeve's death. But, this family's legacy will live on. |

Such a beautiful film, amazing human beings, could not hold back the tears

Re: Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024)
This was a "must see" for me since I heard about it months ago.
My daughter and I visited an AMC 30 minutes away for the 4 o'clock showing. Stopped by the theater at 3 to purchase 2 tickets, then went to grab a bite to eat and returned a few minutes before the showing. We were the only 2 people in the theater which was a little surprising and disappointing. Only one problem--the film hadn't started by 4:15. I went out to alert the staff and was told they were having trouble with the projector and hoped to have it fixed by the 7 p.m. showing. I expressed being slightly frustrated that no one had alerted us. They offered refunds or movie passes. I asked if they'd allow us to see something else to pass the time in addition to the 7 p.m. showing of Super/Man at no extra cost and they agreed to it. My daughter had an interest in the Beetlejuice film, but it didn't begin until 5:15. I asked the theater staff if there would be previews before Super/Man, because I didn't want to miss any of it. I was told that there were, but if I left the Beetlejuice film when the credits rolled, I'd be in good shape. Of course that's what I did, only to walk into Super/Man at 7:15 and the film already playing. :( So a quick, strange question for others--were their trailers before the film? I'm trying to determine if I missed 15 minutes or a much shorter bit. I absolutely loved this, as expected. I've always been a fan of Reeve. I own the DVD documentary, Hope in Motion which is also excellent if I recall from my viewing years ago. I'd certainly recommend this to anyone. |
