Saw it a second time today….at the theater. There was about 10 to 12 others watching.
About a month later, I think it still holds up on a second viewing. Fun movie in my opinion.

Did my civic duty and caught this in the theater last night. Super fun.
Would have enjoyed it slightly more if the gentlemen down the row from me weren't constantly giggling due to the six-pack they snuck in to split and some pre-gaming I'm pretty sure they did.

I never did get around to watching this in theaters, but I absolutely will be watching this on Peacock. I think people spent too much effort trying to read the tea leaves on why this film did not pop in the theater marketplace, if you will. Sometimes good films are just a victim of bad timing and it is very easy to say this movie would have done better if it was released a month later, but it would have been dwarfed by Inside Out 2 and other films that seemed to attract folks that were ready to buy a theater ticket and still put up dismal box office numbers.
I do not think I would look at other films that did okay in the theater and say that those films did so well because they are so much better than The Fall Guy, because based on what I have read and seen of TFG, this was a good movie and with some exceptions (such as the folks in this thread who said the film is a slog to get through and had other criticisms) most folks who saw it felt it was funny and entertaining.
I also plan to finish up that Action docuseries on Peacock after I watch this film, as the series focused a lot on the making of this film.

Enjoyed this. It never for a second pretends to be anything other than what it is - a goofy over the top ode to action films and film making.
Also, what a fun flick this had to be to film.

Watching this on Peacock. Can't stand it. What a boring, poorly paced, stupid movie. Is it because the extended cut is shitty, or was the theatrical cut this bad too?
EDIT: I gave up 57 minutes into the movie.

The extended cut is way way too long. It was fine. Like the stunts and Gosling and Blunt, but it just kept going and going..

This was really bad. Tries to please every possible viewer (those wanting a comedy vs a mystery vs a romance, etc) and ends up pleading no one. It just keeps pushing along, becoming more convoluted along the way.

…. and I really don’t care about finishing the movie. There’s no itch to sit down and keep going. The script is bad, the pacing is bad, the Metal Storm sets, costumes, and effects are bad, and I dare say the acting is bad. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.
I’m also watching the extended cut on Peacock.

^ The extended cut is what I watched as well. Since it’s the only version I’ve seen I don’t know what was added but it REALLY starts to drag, especially the second half. I started thinking this thing would never end.
I don’t think posted my comments in here after I watched it but for the most part I liked it. It certainly isn’t a good movie but it was fun enough. I also thought the chemistry between Gosling and Blunt was strong enough to overcome some of the other problems throughout.

I finished it tonight. It got better in the last hour… but the first two thirds were brutal.
Poor Doone and Kevin.
I’ll give this two stars, just for the stunts and the Lee Majors cameo… but minus a half star for including Heather Thomas. Yeeesh.

I watched the extended cut on Peacock because I had just added the service on the Black Friday deal, and that was the first version I found. I really liked the concept and I almost went to see it in theaters, but it was disappointing overall.

I only caught this in theaters, so that was the only version I saw. I really liked it. Judging from what I'm reading about the extended version, I shouldn't bother with that cut.

I watched this recently and really enjoyed it. I thought Blunt and Gosling had good chemistry, and I thought Gosling was great in particular. Aaron Taylor Johnson seemed to be having a blast, too. I will say, though, that I watched the extended cut, and I really started to feel the length toward the end. I don't know what was added, but I think the movie likely benefited from being a little tighter.
Interesting to see how divisive this movie is with audiences. I know there are always divisive movies, but it seems like 2024 had a number of high-profile films that didn't find a middle ground with viewers. I'm thinking Fall Guy, Longlegs, and Emilia Pérez. It seems like there were a couple more that fit into that category, but I am now drawing a blank.
