AMC Screen Unseen events

I caught Next Goal Wins at their first one a few months back, but have missed a few since then.

Looks like the past ones were:
November 6: Next Goal Wins
November 27: American Fiction
December 11: Boys in the Boat
January 3: Book of Clarence
January 8: Origin

Next ones are:

January 29: An R rated horror film listed with a 1:30 run time.
February 5: A PG-13 rated horror film listed with a 1:45 run time.

Speculation:

January: No idea . . . I was thinking Imaginary, but it has been pushed to March and does not have rating and run time info yet.
February: Lisa Frankenstein (PG-13, 1:41 run time, February 9 release)

Re: AMC Screen Unseen events

So we only get American Fiction as a secret screening? As an actual release I have to drive over an hour away.

I was thinking the same thing . . . it's playing in Peoria. I thought about driving up there, but I'm assuming it will get here in the next few weeks.

Waiting on this and Zone of Interest. Also, Anatomy of a Fall will be playing again next week in Peoria, but not here. I hate AMC in Springfield.

American Fiction is only playing in 850 theaters. I’m not surprised some smaller cities and theaters aren’t getting it.

It's doubling the amount of theatres this weekend.

It's irritating. I've already seen every A-list eligible movie playing here this weekend. I caught Anatomy last fall in Normal, where it's playing again this weekend...not here of course. We get Barbie and Oppenheimer.

Well . . . we are getting a little off-topic, but I guess there is one advantage to having crappy AMCs here:

I had a private IMAX screening of Oppenheimer this afternoon. As I was leaving, there was a guy waiting by the door watching the credits. He was early for the Queen concert they are splitting the IMAX screen with, and he was about to get a private showing also.

I miss the AMC theater in Forsyth - spoiler is IL AMC foibles

Spoiler:

Not the actual theater, mind you. That place was an absolute hole. But whoever was selecting the movies for that theater always did a great job of bringing in small movies a couple of times a month that didn't really show up anywhere else around here. It was everything the Parkway Pointe should have been. Now, did anyone ever go to those movies? Certainly not any of the ones I drove over to watch, which were always private screenings or just about. I still remember when Jojo Rabbit was only there. I couldn't get over the first week it played, and the second week the only showtime was 10:00 PM Sunday night. (an aside...we did get in Springfield about six weeks later because of the Oscars, but I didn't know that then). So the weather is good enough I decide to do it, and it was a private screening of an improperly framed movie with the theater at about 85 degrees. At least the movie was really good.

Given the timing that might have been the last time I saw a movie there before Covid closed it for good. At the very least it was one of the last.

Rumor has it:

January 29 (tonight): Out of Darkness
February 5: Lisa Frankenstein

Got busy today and completely forgot about tonight . . .

I went to the Out of Darkness showing tonight. Trip was a complete bust. Fell asleep after 20 minutes. But I could tell this movie wasn’t for me. I can’t give it a fair opinion since I fell asleep, but I have no interest in watching it again.

Next one on Monday night . . .

PG rated, 2 hours and 1 minute run time . . .

Prediction: Ordinary Angels (opens February 23).

My interest level: NONE.

yeah I saw the trailers. Looks like a faith-based movie. Hard pass. Even though it does have Jack Reacher.

Tonight’s showing is a two hour and 20 minute PG-13 movie. I have looked through all of July and I for the life of me can’t figure out what it would be.

Could this be going into August anybody have any idea what the screen unseen is for tonight based on the PG-13 and runtime?

Monday, July 15 is R-rated. 1 hour, 54 minutes.

I can’t figure out what it is. I will say the running time for Fly Me to the Moon that AMC listed was incorrect.

The run times don't ever match exactly.

Apparently it must be Deadpool and Wolverine. ;)

I cannot find a good site with upcoming listings, and the AMC app is always sketchy.

On the AMC app:
  • something called Disciples in the Moonlight comes out July 17. It doesn't have a rating and appears to be another faith-based film about how Christians are persecuted and must fight back in the future. 2:16 run time.
  • The Good Half, Nick Jonas, July 23, no rating, 2:00.
  • Here is the one I am placing money on: The Fabulous Four, R-rated, opens July 26, 1:39. It's a comedy with Bette Midler, Megan Mulally, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Susan Sarandon.

Online, I found something called DiDi, and it comes out either the 19th or the 26th (maybe?) with an R-rating.

I kind of quit following these, although my wife and I caught Thelma, and it was awesome. Barring that and Last Goal Wins (which was OK), they seem to be more miss than hit for me.

I have a hard enough time talking my wife and son into going to the movies to see something I'm really interested in ,like Furiosa or Inside Out 2. Asking them to go see a mystery movie? I'd have better luck asking them to consent to having a mystery organ surgically removed.

Ever since we went to see "Sorry to Bother You" my wife pretty much will NOT go to anything other than a Disney movie with me. I got her to go see Thelma by telling her "The tickets are just $5, we can walk out if you don't want to see it."
