Just heard the news.

Had no clue he was 60 let alone in his 50s.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

This is a huge bummer. He was someone who was always amazing, no matter the role. Always a pleasure seeing him pop up in things.

He was phenomenal as Lt. Broyles in Fringe.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

I was gonna say, somebody's gotta mention him in Oz, he is excellent in that!

60 is too young, sad news.

Sad as hell to hear he's gone. Such a great voice and gravitas. It was always cool to see him show up in any project.

Titus Welliver’s comments. They starred together on Bosch.

Between Lance and Annie Wersching dying, must be a rough few months for Welliver.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

I really love the guy and my wife and I felt he would be perfect for a live-action nightmare before Christmas. Loved him from the wire and anything I saw him in. Always added to whatever he was in substantially even with just facial expressions. Truly a loss. I may need to revisit Bosch as I can hardly remember seeing him in that. Never watched Fringe so I may need to check that out. Hopefully, he and Omar can hang now... another one has gone far too young there... I have to wonder who else on the Wire has passed.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

I know him most from John Wick and voice acting (Horizon, Destiny, Legend of Vox Machina). Super bummed to hear it. He was awesome.

He could have been a dead ringer for Sean Michaels a big star of a movie genre I won't mention.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

He was on the Kelly Clarkson Show a week prior to his death, but the taped segment aired on 3/23. They said this was his final interview.

I don’t know if anyone noticed but I put his name first in the reviews thread for JW4. He deserved the honor of top billing.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

Cause of death revealed. Looks like he died of a heart attack:

https://deadline.com/2023/04/lance-r...ck-1235319466/

John Wick actor Lance Reddick’s death in Los Angeles on March 17 was the result of heart disease.

According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, the actor, also known for his acclaimed performance on The Wire, died of Ischemic Heart Disease and Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease.

Ischemic Heart Disease, more commonly known as hardening of the arteries, and Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease are typically caused by plaque build up in the arteries.

Reddick, 60, had collapsed in his Studio City backyard when his wife Stephanie found him and called for emergency services.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

He was a tall and pretty slender man. I can't imagine he just sat there and stuffed his face with BBQ and cheeseburgers. I have to imagine he was relatively active.

Re: Lance Reddick dead at 60

What does being obese or sedentary have to do with arteries getting clogged? I know a few people who never work out, are thin with defined muscles, and eat like absolute shit.

Obesity, Other Risks Play Large Role in Sudden Cardiac Arrest Among the Young

Research Spanning More Than a Decade Points to Importance of Screening for Risk Factors Earlier in Life

Obesity and other common cardiovascular risk factors may play a greater role in sudden cardiac arrest among younger people than previously recognized, underscoring the importance of earlier screening, a Cedars-Sinai study has found.

While sports activity often garners attention in cases of sudden cardiac arrest in younger patients, it was cited only in a small percentage of those ages 5 to 34 in the study, published in Circulation, a journal of the American Heart Association.

Instead, investigators found an unexpectedly high prevalence of standard cardiovascular risk factors among the young who suffered from sudden cardiac arrest, a disorder that can cause instantaneous death. Combinations of obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking were found in nearly 60 percent of cases studied.

The findings shed light on a public health problem among the young that has remained largely unsolved.

"One of the revelations of this study is that risk factors such as obesity may play a much larger role for the young who die from sudden cardiac arrest than previously known," said Sumeet S. Chugh, MD, associate director of the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute and lead researcher for the study.

Chugh suggested extending prevention efforts to routine preventive visits for children and young adults.
