True, and I'm right there for a LoSH, Seven Soldiers of Victory, Secret Six, JL Black or actual JSA (not Black Adam) movie, but I get why he started with Superman... ;)

Well, a person can't be all that together in the first place if they are a fan of Snyder's Superman films.

Why is he wearing a thermal underwear sweater? Is he cold?

And why does the actor look so un-Superman-like? He looks more like the kind of thug who would bully Clark Kent at Smallville High.

I think that "cinematically", they like textured costumes. Not much difference in the Snyder-verse Cavill suit or the Supergirl suit in The Flash. IIRC, the last time there was no texturing was Hoeclin's suit briefly in Superman & Lois and then Routh's suit in Superman Returns.

I have my tickets for Friday afternoon. Can’t wait.

I’ve tried to avoid everything but the trailers.

I think it will be good.

Get that positive shit outta this thread! This thread is only for bitching about nitpicky, mundane minutia.

I've lost all interest in this well before the hypno-glasses scene was released. I'll still watch it when I remember to, it just looks so bad to me now.

Jeremy Jahns didn't care for it. He hated the James Gunn misplaced humor. Emotional points don't get to settle because here comes James Gunn with his stupid misplaced humor! Also bad CGI in some spots.

Slither is the only James Gunn film I like. It’s the only
film I’ve enjoyed his “humor” in as well. Alas positive reviews and Superman will still get me to the cinema to see this.

Re: Superman (2025, D: Gunn)

Loved it. LOVED it. Not a perfect movie, but a fucking great one. 4/5 easy. As I've said before, Gunn understood the assignment. This had heart, humor, action, developed characters, emotional payoffs, everything you want from a Superman movie. I thought some of the violence was a bit much (not dark or evil or awful but maybe over-the-top at times) and at times I felt the story felt a bit meandering, but only to the point where I was thinking "OK but where is this going" but no worries; Gunn managed to tie it all in and make it work in a massively satisfying and summer popcorn movie fashion.

Every character was outstanding. Gunn made Jimmy Olsen not just cool, but fun, funny, and useful. Lois was fantastic. Perry too, even in a small role. Guy Gardner was top notch, Hawkgirl was kickass, and GIVE ME A MR. TERRIFIC MOVIE RIGHT NOW.

Oh and Supes? Best since Reeves. Believable, likeable, relatable, fun, funny, noble, heroic, and everything.

As an old-school Superman fan, I'm extremely happy right now. This was great. Bring on the rest of the DCU

Yes to all of that.
This is just a great movie.
Really great start to the New DCU

Just nuts that people are still in thread complaining about a movie before and probably might never see it for ... reasons

I can see that. His humor can get annoying, in my opinion. I loved the first Guardians Of The Galaxy but wasn't a fan of his Suicide Squad.

That being said, have you seen his Peacemaker show? It was great pretty much from start to finish and he had his hands all over that.

Happy to see all the positive reviews for Superman so far. Though people here seem to give high praise to a lot of movies I personally don't end up liking so I will have to temper my expectations.

But all the praise has at least made me want to see it in the theater now instead of waiting.

I think that for many here (and elsewhere), if a superhero movie is not Marvel and it's not a five-star masterpiece, it FUCKING SUCKS. There's no middle ground.

Maybe. But I think that for many here (and elsewhere) if you criticize a superhero movie and point out that it's not a five-star masterpiece, you are an ASSHOLE who hates DC/Marvel. There's no middle ground.

And on social media and YouTube, anyone who keeps posting positive reviews for this movie is being labeled as a paid off shill. And the actual film critics are pretty pissed off.

"And any journalist who got to interview Gunn and the cast is also being called out as a "Shill" because they got "special access"

Oh, and don't bother with the mid and post-credit sequences. They're cute but not essential (or revelatory) by any means.

Well that's not quite true because trashing the Snyderverse became an Olympic sport.

I thought I read when Gunn first took over that he hates end credit sequences, so I guess a cute inconsequential scene is a decent middle ground for those begging for something after the credits.

Seriously, don't. They are not worth the wait. The best after-credit type scene is actually in the movie.

This. 1000%. The mid credit sequence features nothing you haven't seen before if you've paid any attention to marketing, and the post is... cute and funny but completely not worth sticking around for.

Local AMC has interesting showings …

2:45 IMAX 3D
6:00 IMAX Opening Night
9:00 Filmed for IMAX

Any idea if that last one is anything special?

6 and 9 are the same thing. Only thing different is you get a free comic at 6 and it’s not supported by A List.

But can't you call poo, poo?

People didn't hate his universe because it was Snyder. They hated it because it sucked, and they were massively disappointed. And it just kept getting worse.

I have zero doubt if it had been good, the Snyderverse would still be going strong. Everyone I knew LOVED 300. They didn't hate it because Snyder did it. It was loved because it was good. It was enjoyable. It was well made. The same can't be said for most all of his DC output.

And this is coming from someone who will freely admit he likes most of Sucker Punch. And everyone seems to resoundingly hate that movie.
