I don't think anyone knows for sure outside of his camp.

I glanced at the list of topics here and for a second thought it said "Ron Jeremy in Critical But Stable condition" even though I've been a follower of this thread from the start.

Judging by him being declared incompetent to stand trial, that thread doesn't look to be far off.

30+ broken bones? Poor guy. Glad to see he didn't lose a leg.

It would be an huge moment if he was able to come out on this year's Oscars to present an award. I don't think he's gonna be ready at that point, but it would be cool if he did.

Ouch! Sounds like this will be a long and grueling process for him to fully recover. If he goes back to work, it probably won't be until next year at the soonest.

They could have him do it via a live stream from his bed. Although, having him involved in any respect would feel kind of like a desperate ploy to garner some ratings and discussion for the Oscars - which it would be because it's the Oscars. They have a high "pay attention to me!" factor.

I disagree. He's a big movie star and a two time nominee. And he's popular and people are worried about him. If he made an appearance on movie's biggest night, it wouldn't be desperate, it would be appropriate. I remember when Reagan appeared on video at the Oscars right after getting shot. It was kind of reassuring at the time.

I mean, isn't the whole point of putting the show on tv to get people to pay attention?

Yeah. I was a kid. Oscars have been a bigger deal than they should be to me for a long time.

Well, yeah - but it's about the different degrees of trying to get attention.
In the example of music, you put out a record and promote your music via different avenues. Then there's Madonna.
The Oscars are the Madonna of TV and awards shows.

Once very popular, but never important, now only a shadow of its former self and kind of annoying.

Jeremy Renner was crushed by snowplow as he tried to save nephew from injury, sheriff’s report says

Actor Jeremy Renner was trying to stop his snow-removal tractor from sliding and hitting his grown nephew when he was pulled under the vehicle and crushed on New Year’s Day, according to a Nevada sheriff’s office incident report.

The parking brake was not engaged and would have stopped the snowcat vehicle, which runs on a track, as it started sliding sideways after the 52-year-old “Avengers” star used it to pull his nephew’s truck out of snow, according to the redacted Washoe County Sheriff’s Office report, filed Friday.

“The Pistenbully snow groomer began sliding causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake,” reads the conclusion of the report, which CNN obtained Tuesday through a public records request.

“Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

The brake indicator light inside the snowcat’s cab was not functioning, and “mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident,” the report also notes.

The nephew was able to help Renner until help arrived, the report states. Renner was airlifted to the hospital, where he stayed for more than two weeks, undergoing at least two surgeries and being treated in the intensive care unit.

Impairment was not believed to be a factor in the incident, the report also concludes. CNN has reached out to Renner’s representatives for comment.

OMG the fact he was saving his nephew is what caused him to get run over is amazing. But what's even more amazing is that the public had to learn about it from the police report. He, or his publicist, didn't issue a statement saying that's what he did, no trumpeting of his heroism. That's pretty awesome in my eyes.

Not that I want to say anything different, but you don't have to be hero, if you pull the parking brake of your Pistenbully or even better, don't buy your own one and leave using heavy machinery to the professionals. Saving his nephew is a cool thing regardless, but it sounds like it could have be prevented by proper care for safety.

Seems like it wasn't under normal circumstances and he may have had to exit expeditiously and didn't have time/forgot the set the brake.

At the end of the day, I hope this guy makes a full recovery because he’s all sorts of awesome. I’d hate to not see him in future films let alone another season of Mayor of Kingstown. I’m sure he’ll really never be the same physically but I’m hoping he can live normally.

That’s good news. I hope he can still act. Would be a damn shame to lose him, but understandable if he can’t physically do it.
