I didn’t notice Avatar went back to 1 with the rerelease. This needs $3B to beat it. Fun to watch the numbers but I don’t care.

I wonder if James Cameron will do any films after these are done.

We'll all be back for Avatar 8, The Search for More Money.

That Na'vi River Journey is a crock of shit. Shorter version of PotC with a line 3x as long. Flight of Passage just barely edges out Expedition Everest as a top ride.

Yeah, that's a good call. I was there for rope drop but didn't know the layout of the park, so it took a few minutes to figure out where to go. I accidentally got into the middle of the Flight of Passage line that crosses into the foot traffic (and I'm assuming this line consisted of Disney hotel guests and early access people), which would have saved me an hour or so. I didn't realize what line this was at the time, and so I walked to the end where the crowds were going, thereby adding an hour+ to my wait.

River Journey was okay, but I used the Genie+ thing so I only had to wait like 10 minutes, otherwise no way I'm waiting for that one. Didn't get to do Everest, but wanted to. The Pandora food was great though.

Pulled $20.4m yesterday for the biggest Wednesday of 2022. +42% from last Wednesday, more or less identical with No Way Home's 2nd Wednesday (though that had made $200m more at this point). It's apparently crushing it in France as well and is now at $1.1b ww.

Obviously the brakes will come in hard next week but it's doing pretty good. At its current rate it should make about $620m - $650m domestic, of course legs could change that.

Yeah I guess returns are all over the place. Locally it's Jan 4th, NYC is Jan 3rd, LA is Jan 9th, Miami is Jan 6th.

It should be noted that while Avatar 2 is doing quite well (and should be doing so until at least mid-February), it's still not in the top 25 in worldwide grosses, nor the top 50 in domestic grosses. So let's not crown it quite yet.

I mean, it still has a shot at being a $2b disappointment depending on who you ask

So, this will be streaming in 2024? Giving Cameron false hope this will last in theaters for a year. 😂

Not sure about that. Disney plus is pretty good at streaming in good time.

I loved Flight of Passage for what it was. It had nothing to do with Avatar. And the river cruise was pointless and not worth the wait at all.

Got there early for flight, and then used (what was then ) fast pass for the River ride. Agree, neither are really worth the waits.

Most public schools in the US are back on either the third of fourth I believe. Colleges go back the following week, so there's still some time to draw from that crowd.

Avatar 2's third Friday was +27% over its second Friday. Domestic box office should have passed $400M last night. Global box office should pass $1.5B by mid-week.

Looks like this will do well enough to break even and maybe turn a small profit. If nothing else, it proves there's still interest in the property.

We'll see what the post holiday drop is this week, but it looks like 2Billion is the floor now, with 2-2.2B in play. I think Avatar 4 and 5 are now guaranteed!

It's settling into its non-holiday rhythm now, down 57% from last Tuesday to $10.4m-ish

$45 million domestic 4th weekend (estimated, final may be higher). Down only 33% from last weekend (a holiday).

2nd biggest 4th weekend of all time, behind only Avatar 1.

"Non-expanding" 4th weekend. American Sniper out here messing with stats.
