Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

I saw a post on that other forum that there was a Reddit post that the director of this said that the 4K disc would be coming soon from Best Buy, as an exclusive or some shit.

FYI

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

I saw this last night. It was a lot better than the first, and Lauren Lavera is gorgeous, and a much better actress than anyone in the first film.

I wasn't scared or grossed out, but I did have to close my eyes for a few seconds and gather myself during the attack in the bedroom. It was a little much for me.

It would still be a better film if they trimmed it down though.

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

So, I decided to give the first film another try - it was actually not too bad. It's very hard for me to watch low budget flicks like this though with such bad acting.

I kept wondering why I was hearing so much about this - then while watching, I figured that the director himself must also be talented at makeup, gore, etc.. and I was right!!! The director did all the effects as well.

Really wish this flick was more polished. I then watched all hallows eve as well as Art the clown appears in that one as well - it was on pa, maybe a little better than terrifier.

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

Got a subscription to Screambox to watch this. I would say it’s better than the first one but I still wasn’t the biggest fan of it.

I think it was definitely too long. When it got to around the hour and a half mark I kept looking at how much was left and kind of wanted it to be done.

Spoiler:
The story and characters were better this time around, but there are a lot of things that don’t make a lot of sense.

Is there some link between Sienna and Jonathan’s father and Art? Wondering if somehow the father’s drawings came to life since he was drawing Art. Also the fact that the father was an artist and the character is Art the Clown.

There clearly are some supernatural elements in play. The sword that brought Sienna back to life and obviously Art himself has some other worldly elements to him. Does Art feed off of his victims for power?

The mime girl also is a lingering question. Sounds like she was killed by Art possibly but beyond that I’m not sure what the link between them is.

Also the mid credits scene with Victoria is a huge “wtf” moment. So not only is she not dead but also somehow she rebirthed Art’s decapitated head??

The kills were okay. Obviously the standout is the bedroom scene where Allie is killed. Truthfully thought that scene was ridiculous after a while. It was so over the top and she should have been dead multiple times over.

Nothing made me want to vomit but there was definitely some gross shit.

All in all not bad but I’m still not necessarily a big fan of either film so far.

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

I watched it on Halloween night.

This movie is so stupidly overhyped. I guess with Bloody Disgusting being the distributor this time they really worked the press on it. Good for them as it paid off. But some of these stories about puking and fainting are just ridiculous. There is maybe one scene that is over the top and IMO it doesn't even top THE SCENE from the original.

Is it a good movie? It's fine. Horror fans should definitely have some fun with it, but keep expectations in check. It's just a bigger version of the first. I think Art the Clown is a good horror villain. The mime-like aspect is creepy. I appreciate any movie that still likes to have fun with practical effects. I wasn't really a fan of the supernatural stuff... I guess they will explain more in the third? Enjoyed Lauren Lavera as the lead. Most of the other actors were terrible... especially the mother.

Is it too long? Absolutely.

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

Yeah, the big kill scene in the first movie was better than the one in this film. In this it felt like the filmmakers were just trying as hard as possible to top themselves and it was just kinda ridiculous.

Also I’m not exactly one for overdone kill scenes. Like when someone is killed I don’t care to see lingering shots of their body being mutilated or stabbed or whatever multiple more times.

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

Eh, it was just as bad as the first movie. The bad acting is what pulls me out. I really hope this doesn't become the standard for new horror movies. Low budget trash. Filsm like the first Halloween may have been low budget as well but they were inventive and had a lot of tlc put into them.

I'm not big on horror films like this either where the gore is way over the top - I don't mind it but it also pulls me out of the experience when you're looking for faults in the props used during scenes.

It's just way over the top and doesn't work. It had promise at its start (the laundromat and dream sequence) then it just became lame.

Also, it was way, way, way, too long.

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

This is on the free library streaming service Hoopla. I watched it last night and today.
OMG, that was probably the most unpleasant viewing experience I've had lately. The violence is just sadistic and over the topic. The bedroom torture and murder scene was I was like enough already, let the poor girl die already! Getting scalped, continuously stabbed and then getting your limbs torn off. That was way too much. And then a guy getting his dick sliced to shreds and ripped off.

You could tell these actors were mostly amateurs. None of them were really very good. The lead actress was sorta decent. Art the Clown was a pretty creepy killer, but they went way overboard with some of his kills. And yeah I wasn't a fan of the supernatural element, especially in the final act. Yes, it was way too long. There were lots of parts that could have been trimmed. This should have been no more than a 95 to 100 minute movie.

Unless you have access to Hoopla and are really in the mood for a violent and low budget horror movie, I wouldn't go out of my way to pay to watch this. And by no means do I think this is a title worth owning. I know they released a 4K disc of it. But, yeesh, I wouldn't own this.

I don't think he was referring specifically to you... more of a joke about asking "How does it compare to first?" when pretty much every post made by someone who saw gives their thoughts in comparison to the first.

Yeah, I missed the "at least according to the posts" part. I shall delete my reply.

Nothing but love for ya Kurt - it wasn't a mean reply anyway but I misread so that reply is history.

I try ...
I honestly wasn't sure if Oldboy was joking or not, so kind of wanted to cover my bases there.

As for the topic, I liked the first one OK, so will probably check this one out when I have the free time and can watch it for free.

Re: Terrifier 2 (2022)

This shit was lame and corny. Mediocre effects for a movie made post 2020. The director is trying way too hard to be shocking and is just boring. I feel the Hellraiser films have just as equally shocking and actually unsettling sequences that convey a sadistic evil more than anything in this. They definitely don’t have the quantity to the point of any chance of shock value being diluted. Honestly one of the biggest wastes of time I’ve experienced.
