Mindy Kaling Confirms She Won’t Be Back for ‘Inside Out 2’
While speaking to TheWrap about her new HBO Max series “Velma,” Kaling said that she wouldn’t be returning for the follow-up film, this time directed by “Onward” head of story Kelsey Mann and written, once again, by Meg LeFauve.
“I had a great time working on ‘Inside Out’ and am sure ‘Inside Out 2’ will be great. But I’m not working on it,” Kaling said.
She additionally stressed that she is not a part of the movie “right now.” Kaling’s involvement could change depending on whether the story takes a different form (Pixar movies famously go through many iterations before making it to the screen) or, of course, they reach an agreement on compensation.

Sure, I'm up for that. Wish Bill Hader was still involved though. I guess Tony Hale is a reasonable replacement to play Fear.

I saw on X that they offered Amy Poehler $5 million to this but only $100K to Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling which is why they aren't in this.

Oof, wrong time to pinch pennies but this will still probably do very well.

I love Tony Hale but no Bill Hader or Mindy Kaling is VERY noticeable and NOT great.
I do think this premise looks really good, though, and we are in.

Yeah, I liked that a lot more than the teaser. Gives me some hope for this one. Haven't really liked a Pixar sequel since Toy Story 3.

Inside Out 2 will reportedly get 100 days in theaters before it hits streaming. Bloomberg is the original source.

FYI, if you’re a Disney + member, they sent out a newsletter today where you can claim a $10 voucher off the ticket price on Fandango.
I used it to go to a different chain that I like. Seeing it Friday afternoon.

I re-watched Inside Out last night on Disney+ to refresh my memory on the characters. I don't recall the last time I saw it, but I barely remembered it,
Anyway, I liked seeing it again after all this time and I'm catching a matinee later this afternoon.

Just got back. Full house this afternoon for a 4:15pm show. I thought it was delightful. Very simple story with the new emotions and Riley transitioning into High School. I enjoyed the introduction of the new emotions like Anxiety. She and Joy played well off each other. It’s a breezy 90 minutes.
There is a post credit scene, but I wouldn’t call it mandatory viewing. It was a cute scene.
For those with kids, this is absolutely a worthy family watch in the theater. The animated characters are gorgeous on the big screen.
I’m glad this is getting 100 days in theaters, this is is going to kill it in the weeks ahead. Pixar will finally has a big hit after a long time.

Most beautiful looking movie I've seen this year. The animation is gorgeous in every element; design, inventiveness, colour...
The movie is funny, and I enjoyed it well enough, but I don't think it holds a candle to the first one. Nearly every Pixar movie I've seen has an emotional sequence that's made me cry either from heartbreak (Up) or feeling of profound love (Soul), yet this one didn't get into those deep waters. And I don't believe this is a case of me being unable to "relate" to the main character, as I've seen plenty of films illustrating the inner life of a young girl that feel as universal as any other.
Was cool seeing this is a full theatre. I'd advise going, as it deserves a big-screen experience.

Re: Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2 (2024, D: Mann)

Thanks to a timely Father’s Day gift, the Old Jedi was able to watch the latest Pixar sequel, Inside Out 2.
This sweet and sometimes emotional story focuses again on the emotions that man the control center that contributes to 13-year-old Riley’s feelings and reactions to the various situations she encounters from day to day.
Upping the ante are a new set of emotions who take over the command center as Riley has hit puberty. These include Anxiety, Envy, Ennui and Embarrassment, and as they get involved with Riley’s new life challenge (attending an invitation only Hockey camp), the new emotions don’t exactly listen to the old guard of Joy, Anger, Sadness, Disgust and Fear, and problems ensue that eventuality must be resolved by both teams of emotions working together.
The conflicts between the two teams of emotions complicate Riley’s attempts to be confident and focused on being successful at Hockey camp, causing her to alienate her two best friends as she tries to impress the older “in-crowd” at camp.
Again, it looks like Pixar has another winner, and I can’t wait to see what happens when Riley hits 16 or 18, and romance is blended into the emotional mix. “Inside Out 2” is a great follow-up to the original. The Old Jedi was thoroughly entertained, and is giving “Inside Out 2” 4.5 out of 5 lightsabers.
Parents, this one is rated PG and there isn’t much that most kids shouldn’t see or hear, but the youngest viewers may not understand everything that is going on.
