Sad loss for sure. Really good dude. Relatable down to earth guy with a great sense of humor. Terrific actor who always brought his A game. Left us with a lot of memorable roles. He could easily have settled playing a certain type of character but he showed range and personality with comedy just as well. Was great seeing him launch Wes Anderson and Owen Wilson's career with Bottle Rocket.

Las Vegas was a guilty pleasure of mine. He made it so much fun.

My heart goes out to his family… especially Scott Caan.

I think most people frown on the film, but I really enjoy The Way Of The Gun and his performance in it.

I don't think I've seen Las Vegas, when I read these comments, I was thinking it was short for Honeymoon in Vegas.

The Gambler
may be my favorite film of his.

R.I.P.

I plan on firing up The Gambler tonight in honor of Caan. Fantastic film, and performance.

Las Vegas ran 5 seasons on NBC. Caan starred in 4 of the 5. He played the owner of a fictional Las Vegas casino. And the show was basically about the hijinks that went on behind the scenes inside the casino operations.

Josh Duhamel, Molly Sims, James Lesure, Nikki Cox, Vanessa Marcil also starred. Cheryl Ladd had a recurring part as his wife.

"Misery" is my favorite James Caan movie. "Brian's Song" was also pretty darn good for a tv movie. RIP

What a great actor. His presence at times was very intimidating. Real bad ass actor. Love his work.

RIP to a legend

I did like the movie, at least it was OK, but Caan's performance was awesome, really intense. I also liked him as the villain in North Star with Christopher Lambert.

I enjoyed the Delines on Las Vegas. Cheryl Ladd was only a recurring guest star, but she had good chemistry as Caan’s wife.

Yeah Las Vegas isn’t on any streaming service. Not even Peacock.

Well, that is certainly terrible news. Big fan of Las Vegas as well. Luckily I own all the seasons on DVD, so I can at least watch it in SD.

I also own the series DVD. Might watch a few episodes tomorrow.

But it is odd it's not on Peacock. Maybe it has something to do with music rights, not just the opening title (which uses an alternate lame one for the DVD), but other hits featured?

I remember the flashback scene in Godfather II and to me that is what I think of the most of Caan in the Godfather movies and it does not get as much notice as his big fight in the alley in Godfather I.

Just saw Thief…Michael Mann’s first and it’s a doozy. Great performance by Caan. Great shots. And Tangerine Dream’s score was perfect. Finally a Mann baddie gets away!
Have The Gambler set to go.

I know it's cheesey but I have always loved this line from Eraser:

"John, I can't believe you nailed me with this cheap piece of mail-order shit!"

He will be missed, Alien Nation and Thief are the movies that bring him to mind.
