Isn't the Blu Ray region locked? (Doing some quick research, it looks like it was released under a different title in some countries, Escape From Absolom, and was actually region free. Sadly, it's out of print and absurdly expensive.)

Damn.

I remember looking for it a few months ago. All I have is the old snapper case dvd. Like others this was my first exposure to Ray.

it might be. i know it's Australian as it is made by Umbrella. has some extras too, i just noticed. got it awhile ago, but don't think i paid an exorbitant price. how much is it now? and had no idea it was directed by Martin Campbell. and oddly, though the Australian Amazon lists as Escape from Absolom, my Blu with same art and look is called No Escape on cover. and i have no idea where i purchased it from. **edit...it's reversible cover art. the other side says Escape From Absolom.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67

Yeah, it's region free, but it's going for $50+. I want to watch it again, but not THAT much.

I had no idea that it came out on a region free blu ray since the name was changed for that Australian release. I haven't seen the movie in probably 25 years. It's not streaming, and the DVD's are expensive for a non-anamorphic title since it's long out of print.

Honestly, I don't understand why it hasn't gotten a re-release in the U.S. - it's got a noteworthy cast and director, and it's fairly well regarded. It's like No Escape has almost disappeared from existence here.

I watched No Escape back in the VHS days. I remember enjoying it at the time. I wonder how well it holds up 20+ years later.

Unlawful Entry is available on laserdisc.

I think it was on Sony Movie Channel recently.

I have UE in Vudu. Good one as well. Narc with Jason Patric was good too.

Maybe now it will, with his passing. Maybe the right's holder is sitting on it for some reason.

I think I only saw No Escape once. It was released by HBO home video on VHS back in the day. I don't think back in 1994 when it came out he was really a "star" yet. And that was his 1st major lead action role. Yeah he was in Unlawful Entry and Field of Dreams, but he was only a supporting character in those.

It is easier to find No Escape 2015 with Owen Wilson than the Liotta movie.

Only a supporting character in Goodfellas? Have you not seen Goodfellas?

Oh my bad. He has top billing. I incorrectly worded that.

For the record, I haven’t seen Goodfellas in probably over a decade. Maybe 15 years.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67

I just saw No Escape on Blu. Holds up very well. Loved the abrupt end. A young Ray Liotta was a stud. He’s charmingly smarmy. He took this role bc he wanted a hero type. Nice little :30m making of included. Martin Campbell, Ray Liotta, Gale Anne Hurd all talked from back then. Print looked great. Clean, even in dark scenes, looked good. Great movie made that much better bc of Liotta.

I saw No Escape in the theatre, one of the first R-rated movies my friends and I just bought a ticket and walked into because we were old enough to pass for 18. All I remember is the cool overhead opening shot.

That's OK, I haven't seen Goodfellas in over 3 hours.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67

One of my girlfriends at the time introduced me to Liotta (she loved Liotta) with the movie Turbulence. A movie that I ended up liking very much because the actress is so damn cute (Lauren Holly). I found Liotta's character evil and demented, I was immersed by his performance. I had no idea that Goodfellas came out before Turbulence because at the time I never heard of Goodfellas. Years went by I finally saw Goodfellas and thought Liotta was a much greater actor. It was Goodfellas that made me follow his footsteps to his other movies.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67

Something Wild really was one of the very best debut performances I have ever seen as he completely took-over the last half of that film. He was convincingly menacing and yet in a scene where he flirts with a young girl in a motel lobby you could see the charming leading-man quality he had as well.

His presence in any film good or bad always elevated the material. He'll be missed.

Looks like Unearthed Films is releasing No Escape (1994) on Blu-Ray!

I've watched my DVD this week. The first 10 minutes haven't aged well, but as soon as they reach Absolom the movie fully delivers.
