Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
It was mentioned before Copland was one of his better more underrated performances.
I liked him in Iceman too though not the most likeable character but memorable and scary in that movie I remembering seeing him on the Today show and Kelly and Ryan and never would expect he would die months later. He would appear in music videos too. I heard he worked on Black Bird a Apple+ showing coming soon. I have Field of Dreams 4k disc and was planning on watching it in the next month but it will be different now with the news from today. |

I've been a big fan since Goodfellas. One movie that almost no one mentions is No Escape. I saw that in the theater, and I've always liked it a lot. I've never gotten the DVD, though, since it was non-anamorphic. I kept holding out hope that it would be reissued in anamorphic widescreen - maybe even on Blu Ray.
No such luck. Now it's long out of print, and sells for more used now than it went for new back when it was available. It's not like it was a total flop, and it had a noteworthy cast, so... Why hasn't it been reissued? Ray was really good in that one. And, of course, in Cop Land. Perpetual motion. Don't go head on - think diagonally. Great movie, great performance by Ray in a great cast. 67 is WAY too young to go. |
Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
Like everyone else I was just shocked and really bummed to find out he's gone. He had an intensity and look that was naturally intimidating but then in interviews you saw what a thoughtful, good dude he really was. I think Something Wild was the first time I really noticed him and it was such an unforgettable scary character. Those blazing eyes of his. Goodfellas is one of my all time faves and his narration is top shelf great. Up there with Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now or William Holden in Sunset Boulevard.
A few years back i remember seeing him in ads for Chantix (before they replaced him with an animated turkey) where he talked about his smoking habit. Can't help but think that might have been a factor. |

One movie that hasn’t been mentioned: Hannibal. Not a great movie but almost impossible to forget Ray’s performance in it.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
67 is a normal age about 50 years ago.

Huge huge fan. And was recently impressed with him in "Marriage Story". I just watched "Cop Land" again a few weeks ago. And put on 'Goodfellas" tonight. But will forever remember Ray in his first film, "Something Wild". Fantastic movie and star making performance. Saw that one in the theater three times when it came out.

RIP - Goodfellas is a 10 ten of all time.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
Loved him. Another good one of his, is "Corrina, Corrina" with Whoopi Goldberg.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
I don't think he did any comic book movies?
He probably would have been a perfect fit in a Batman movie as Falcone or a mob boss. |

Not many watched it here, but he was really good playing a dirty cop on Shades of Blue. It aired on NBC several years ago. The character was also conflicted with his sexuality, which made him more interesting in the show. But, J-Lo was the lead and she got most of the publicity from that series.

Oddly enough, outside Goodfellas (1990) its the film I immediately think of when anyone brings up Ray Liotta. RIP :( |

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
It is amazing no streamer or Tubi or some app or the premium cable channels carries No Escape

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
What's up with all these actors / musicians dying in hotel rooms? Off the top of my head Liotta, Bob Saget, Chris Cornell. I know there's more just can't think of them all.

Re: RIP: Ray Liotta - Dead at 67
Taylor Hawkins was added to that list this year too.
It is shocking Goodfellas is not on 4K Blu-ray in the US or discontinued? |
