Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Baywatch - starring the Rock, Zach Efron, and Alexandra Didario. I think if it was made like the TV show in that it was campy but still a drama where you laugh at the bad acting and writing. The movie messed up in that it shouldn't have been made as a comedy and it needed the famous montages.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
My wall of shame:
Over the Top Spies Like Us Alien3 (Actually only the first ten or so minutes. The projector crapped out and the theater refunded us) Alien: Resurrection (Thank you, sir! May I please have another!) The Last Jedi |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I know I posted before that I've never walked out of a movie, which is still true, but I did ALMOST walk out of Star Trek V. That is a truly epic piece of shit.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Not including anything that could be deemed successful in any way
Superman 4: The Quest for Peace Cool World Super Mario Bros Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 Robocop 3 Jason Goes to Hell Hellraiser Bloodline Freddy Got Fingered (A personal favorite of mine though it deserves inclusion for most) A Good Day to Die Hard Captive State Cats (Which I still argue is actually a good adaption of Cats that's just never going to be a good thing) |

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Looking over the previous posts, it looks like I've seen a lot of shitty movies in the theater.

I posted it on my Facebook page update and one my friends said, “Why the hell would you do that to yourself while on vacation in Thailand?” rotfl |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
For some reason in middle school, my friend and I got dropped off to see a movie, and somehow we ended up seeing Mommy Dearest. We were quoting "No wire hangers" the next day. On first dates in college, I saw movies like Driving Miss Daisy, and Rain Man. I guess those days didn't have many options on those particular weeks.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I didn't see if I mentioned this the first time around, but the horrible version of The Green Hornet starring Seth Rogen. Not only bad, but it holds a special memory as being the last movie I'd ever see in 3-D (and I believe it wasn't even filmed in 3-D, that was just added afterwards by some lame "conversion" process). A couple of months after seeing it I lost most of the vision in my left eye, rendering all movies 2-D for the rest of my life.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Expendables 4 was an embarassment to all parties involved. I was the only person in theaters when I saw it and to be honest I was bored. Sly was barely in it, the cast looked like they were only there for a paycheck, and the CGI used looked cheap which took me out of the movie.

Checked my Letterboxd and I got more:
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale Babylon A.D. Eragon Batman and Robin Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Red Dawn (2012) Hypnotic Star Wars: The Clone Wars The Twilight Saga: New Moon |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
Some honorable mentions I haven't seen listed:
Neverending Story 2 - probably my most disappointing movie going experience as a kid. Jetsons: The Movie The Babe - this might not be that bad of a film from what I remember, but I haven't seen it since. Lightning Jack Dunston Checks In |

I have a weird soft spot for that movie. Even though I'm a child of the 80s, I didn't see the original until I was in my mid-twenties, so I have no real reverence for it. And the opening "takeover" sequence in the 2012 version is fantastic. It's also surprisingly brutal. I kinda dug it.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
High School Musical 1 & 2 were made for TV, but High School Musical 3 was made for theaters. Sadly, I went. I should have waited till the Disney Channel showed it. :scratch2:

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
My mom & sister went to go see Legends of the Fall while I chose to see The Jerky Boys instead. If you watch Siskel & Ebert's review for the latter, I was "That kid" who Roger mentions.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
A slightly different situation that most in this thread, since it was at TIFF and wasn't a mainstream movie.
A Hole in My Heart Lukas Moodysson was gaining interest in the film world with Show Me Love, Together and his latest at that point - Lilya 4-ever. Went to TIFF to see his latest, but I immediately had concerns when the host introducing the film was going out of his way to praise it before it started. It felt like he was trying to convince us ahead of time that we'd be wrong to think the film was shit when it was over. He didn't convince me - it was a piece of shit. Moodysson was there to take questions after the film, and one person asked "Do you like your audience?" Can't believe I sat through that film. |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
I checked my records and while I didn't hate all of those on the list, there are some real stinkers.
Batman Forever Batman & Robin Striptease Police Academy 7 - Mission In Moskau Urban Legends 2: Final Cut The Wedding Planner America's Sweethearts The Sweetest Thing The Tuxedo Sweet Home Alabama Catwoman The Dukes of Hazzard Doom Wild Hogs Beowulf What Happens in Vegas The Spirit Those chick flicks I didn't watch with a girl. I watched all of them with my best friend. For a few years we went to the theater on every tuesday and sometimes there wasn't much to choose from. |
Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
The advent of AMC A-list has made me a far less discerning consumer, but one day in 2019 springs to mind. First, I used an A-list reservation to go see the 2019 version of Black Christmas. When that was over I walked across the hall and did a (sneaky) double feature with Cats. It was a truly magical day at the movies.

Re: I saw THAT in theaters?
The most little-seen movie I've ever been to (at a regular, first-run movie theatre, not part of any kind of festival) has to be Leaving Metropolis in 2003, the adaptation of Brad Fraser's play Poor Superman. I'm assuming the title was changed and all references to Superman taken out for legal concerns. This was not in a big city, I was the only one in the theatre, and wonder how many other people went during its week long run.
