Seven Samurai is my #2 movie. In 1983 it was re-released to arthouse/indie theaters, of which there was all of one in my area. I was 12 and wanted to go see Wargames or some such shit. My Dad was like, no trust me, this is even better, and dragged me along. Can you imagine trying to sell a 3+ hour, black and white, subtitled film to a 12 year old who thought the cinematic peak had been reached with Star Wars and Police Academy?
Yeah. I freakin' loved the movie. Every second of it, I was completely taken in and absorbed into Kurosawa's world. Action, adventure, heroes, swordplay, samurais, honor, battles aplenty, and plenty of humor as well. Movies rarely get more perfect.
Also: Michael Jeck's 1988 commentary from the Criterion DVD/Blu-Ray/Channel is pretty much the greatest commentary ever recorded.

I’m going with Godfather 1 & 2 as a whole. When fused together there was not one second I wasn’t mesmerized by what I was seeing on screen. Truly felt there or took me away which is what movies should do.

I’m going to say Child’s Play 1 - 7 mashed together. The arc that Charles Lee Ray goes through is just really something. From a small time crook to getting trapped in a body where he doesn’t belong. Then he becomes a husband and a father. It’s quite the struggle.

Honestly, every James Bond film counts as one to me.
