We have our tickets for March 1 in Dolby. The IMAX chairs at our AMC are awful. The Dolby theater is excellent.

All reviews so far are in agreement that it's a visual treat that sometimes falls short in terms of characters, especially new ones. The more I read about this installment the more I think this one is probably more Hollywood than Villeneuve's other efforts. I can totally understand that as they need this one to be a huge hit for him to complete his envisioned trilogy.

Still don't understand why we aren't getting a double-feature anywhere.

I was hoping for this as well. I remember them doing it with the two Blade Runners back in 2017.

I know they dropped Part 1 back on IMAX a few weeks ago, but with NOTHING new out and Madame Web holding the IMAX screens for a second week now . . . looking like that timing was a colossal fuck up (from a fan perspective).

My son and I loved doing the Deadpool double-feature back then.

I guess I need to lower my expectation based on the reviews I'm hearing. It sounds like there have been significant changes from the book.

Yeah. It’s a really good movie, not great. I’ll totally buy it on 4K, but there were sone changes that didn’t make sense and omissions that make no sense given the film could have been more tightly edited.

Is there as much whisper-talking in this movie as part 1? I had to turn on subtitles to understand what they were saying during large parts of the movie.

Yes. The IMAX screening I was at was so loud it wasn’t an issue though.

The more I see of the promotion for this movie the more I realize why the studio decided to delay it due to the SAG strike. While other movies with the focus on just one major star could have probably made it, that is not the case with this one. This is one is full of A listers, any single one of whom could headline their own movie. Having this many enables the marketing people to send several of them out to different press functions and not just one single star. Sending Butler and Chalamet out together is particularly effective.

We rewatched Dune: Part One in two parts this week, the first hour on Netflix on Wednesday and the rest this afternoon on Hulu. We are ready for tonight!

Apparently looking at $70 - $80m for opening weekend after a $30m - $34m Friday + Previews. Apparently Zendaya's fanbase isn't showing up to this, only 8% of the audience were females under 25.

Females under 25 are probably going for Chalamet. Males over 25 are going for Zendaya . . . and maybe the popcorn bucket.

It was only on Netflix through February 29 and the kid had the day off from school on March 1 so we could finish on Hulu. The 4K is downstairs somewhere.
