Same here. Circles make me claustrophobic. I do frequent a parallelogram and a hexagon, but we don't talk movies there.

This pretty much covers it. Trying to explain B&W, subtitled, Kurosawa samurai films to my friends, I might as well be explaining nuclear physics.

Pretty much any "great movie", unless my circle includes people on here. Now if you want to talk about the latest Transformers or Marvel movie, my friends could go on for days.

It is kind of fun when watching Jeopardy with others and a category for obscure films comes on. I can usually rattle off five movies they've never heard of by five directors they've never heard of.

One of the reason Mrs Danger and I first hit it off was because we both like non-mainstream movies. She has told me that when she watched a movie in the 1980s and that Janus Films logo came on, she knew it was going to be good. It's a rare trait, and I love her for it.

I basically don't talk about movies with people in my circle because there's so little common ground.

Yes, but how good are you at college football mascots?

Yeah, if that happened to me on a date I'd probably kneel down on the sticky theater floor and fashion a ring out of my popcorn box.

You could combine that with the "popcorn surprise'' (is that still a thing?) for a double surprise!

My friends and I like (and quote) movies like Empire Records and Dead Man on Campus to this day. I got the chance to chat with Jason Segel for a bit and told him how much I love Dead Man on Campus. He lit up because that was his first big movie and he told me how his dad visited him on set and couldn't stop talking about the free craft services food. I don't think anyone has asked him about it in years - it was a fun moment.

Darned tootin'! I'd caution, though, that just because she loves foreign films doesn't necessarily make her a nice person.

Her: Aw, it's only kernels left in the bag.
Me: No baby, that's my......oh, never mind.
