Seconded. American Graffiti smokes both of those films. It's George Lucas' best movie (sorry, Star Wars) and while taking place in a fixed point in history, it's universal heartfelt themes of the struggles of growing up are timeless. There's not a false not in it. It's a masterpiece of American cinema. The others are just above average fun teen romps.

I'm not picking.

Other than the fact that both movies take place in high school, they really don't have much in common when you think about it. One takes place over the course of an entire school year, one takes place over the course of a single day. That alone indicates that the focus of each of the films is entirely different.

It's like asking "which do you like more? Cheeseburgers or massages?". The two are incongruous, each satisfying a different need, and there's no reason to choose one or the other.

Fast Times by far.

I don't even think Dazed and Confused is a good movie aside from a few quotable lines. Mostly by Matthew McConaughey.

Considering my latest purchase, I plan to watch back to back, but really different movies.

Both are great, but Dazed is one of my top 5 movies.

Nobody in Dazed and Confused had the sick Vans spicolo wore.

I already own the regular blu-ray for Fast Times but what the heck I ordered the criterion edition blu-ray.

I guess this won't get a 4k release?

It’s Universal, so yea, it probably will get a 4K release directly from them.

D&C is one of my favorite movies of all time. Both were out by the time I was watching them so I don't have the nostalgia of Fast Times first.

I think "Dazed and Confused" vs "American Graffiti" would be a good poll. Both are coming-of-age movies nostalgic for an earlier time that the filmmaker grew up in. Both also happen over just a few days.
