Dazed and Confused vs. Fast Times at Ridgemont - Which do you prefer? High

So having just re-watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High, reminded me of Dazed and Confused and was wondering, which one do you prefer?

Mods, can you remove "High" at the end of the tread title, please?

While they are both great, Fast Times was pretty much my teenage years in the 80's even though we had a couple of Wooderson's that got left back a few times in high school , lol

Dazed and Confused is a movie that I can watch over and over again and never get tired of it.

Dazed and Confused speaks to me more. While my high school years were in the 90s rather than the 70s, that movie basically was my experience. Small Texas town with not much to do. Driving around town and meeting up with people, often winding up in some field.

Fast Times has more iconic memorable scenes

Pretty much my story too. I went to high school in the 90s but Dazed and Confused speaks to me more. I spent far more time driving around town and ending up with friends at local fast food joints than I did, say, hanging out at the mall.

Outside of Phoebeís pool scene and the scene when Brad gets fired, which I find hilarious, Fast Times never really did it for me.

Saw Dazed and Confused in the theatre the month I started high school and it's been one of my favorite films ever since.

Fast Times is ok.

Never got into either of these films. Not really sure why. I do like Linklater though so if I was forced to choose it would be Dazed and Confused. Pennís character kind of annoyed me in Fast Times.

American Graffiti.

Dazed is the better film -- it feels very real, whereas Fast Times is more cinematic and cartoonish -- but I love both.

I've never smoked but I'd say my favorite stoner movies are the Harold and Kumar movies.

I watched Dazed and Confused for the first time last year and I found it okay -- I had watched Everybody Wants Some!! before it and I enjoyed that movie more. I was a teen in the '80s and I have seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High several times so I probably would go with it. As to Jeff Spicoli...

Dazed and Confused, easily. I found it far funnier, enjoyed the soundtrack more, and it didn't have Sean Penn, who I didn't enjoy at all.

I like them both equally.

Both really captured the high school experiences of the 70s to the 90s. Fast Times at Ridgemont High was how we spent our days, and Dazed and Confused was how we spent our nights.

Grew up in a small town from the late 70s to the early 90s, and so much of those movies is spot-on. There was always at least one Spicoli in your school, one Wooderson hanging out with the kids, and a Mr. Hand bedeviling you. But we didn't have a mall to hang out in, or seniors trying to beat our asses with paddles.

I enjoy Pennís performance because it was apparently the first and last time he didnít take himself seriously. I think 1982 was the last time Sean Penn smiled.

FTARH

For me Richard Linklater is hit or miss and D &C is an overrated miss.

Dazed and Confused does not exist without Fast Times.

Fast Times all the way.

Everybody Wants Some is better than Dazed and Confused anyway. Yeah I said it.

I consider dazed and confused one of the best movies ever made, so that's my choice

Perhaps a better poll would be American graffiti, dazed and confused, or Superbad?
