I enjoyed it. But if you go in expecting a theatrical-quality movie, you'll be disappointed. This is more of a made-for-streaming movie. It felt to me like a movie-length episode of Shudder's Creepshow.
I don't think it's worth $25. But I'll pick it up when it hits $10.

This is available on Hoopla now.
It was dumb fun, but I felt it could have been so much better if the action on the plane after she leaves the turret had been just the slightest bit realistic. I mean, after she spends ten minutes crawling around upside down on the belly of the plane midflight, I thought, "do they really expect us to buy this?" And then THAT scene happened--you know the one I mean--and I guess the writers foresaw my reaction to the previous stuff and were saying "Fuck you, eat this!" Such a ridiculous thing.
But then I kind of got back into it after that with the action going on inside the plane becoming a bit more believable, and I thought the final confrontation on the beach was kind of cool in a 'don't mess with a momma bear's cub, she will fuck you up' kind of way. The last thing I had seen Chloe Grace Moretz in was The 5th Wave, which is one of the worst movies I've seen in the past ten years. I liked her a lot in this, though, and she's the only person we see for a long stretch of the movie and I felt like she pulled it off. I'm glad I didn't pay money to watch this, but I'm not sorry I watched it.
The thing I liked most about this movie was the synth score. I may buy the soundtrack.

I have to confess that THAT SCENE is a guilty pleasure of mine. As I said in my original review:
While the movie incorporates male toxicity in the story, it's ultimately a creature feature/WWII action film that often goes over the top. Liang throws in a CG-created stunt that goes well beyond being unbelieveable but scores some serious points for its sheer audacity.

Just saw this on Hulu and it was weird, yet I kind of liked it. I'm bias, since I love Chloe Grace Moretz. I usually enjoy her movies, or I guess it's better to say I've never hated any of her roles.
The 80s synthwave music was catchy. I've become more of a fan of that genre this past year. Side note - I recommend "The Midnight". Good synthwave.
I also recommend watching this movie with subtitles. It helps with the radio chatter deciphering who is speaking.

I wonder if this would be more well recieved if it was set like in WW1 or The Civil War,the silent Generation and WW2 has been Diefyed the last few decades so any kind of fun unserious B movie's like this are bound rub some people the wrong way in a way they wouldn't be if the film was set in a different era.

I doubt it. It's the over-the-top nature that seems hit or miss for most people.
