too. And here we are.

They know they need to reinvent the franchise.

They most definitely are going to co,me up with something new and different.
Still, my argument is, you have Alien from Ridley Scott, and Aliens from Cameron. Both great films. Very different in style. EON is not going to want some films in the next batch like Alien and others like Aliens. Either all like Alien, or all like Aliens. They are going to be looking at the batch of films as a whole, not individual films to stand on their own. Once we see the first of the batch, we will know what to expect from the rest. Quality of the scripts will vary but not the style. When you go to see a Bond movie you know what you're going to get. that's intentional on EON's part.

Going back to OHMSS. People love it or hate it because it's different. EON doesn't care about the people who loved it, they focused on the people who didn't like it. EON's mindset is "everybody likes a routine Bond film, not everybody likes one that's different" .
Once we get the first one we'll know what to expect from the rest. Casino Royale was a refreshing change. Looking forward to what they come up with this time.

In some ways, I think they should probably move outside of the box and abandon the idea of strict continuity. Just make each Bond movie an individual, standalone entity with its own cast, director, and style. Give Nolan a Bond movie to do whatever he wants with it. Give Fincher a Bond movie to do whatever he wants with it. Idris Elba plays Bond in one movie. Benedict Cumberbatch? Fassbender? Asia Kate Dillon as a gender-bending James Bond? Tom Hardy as a loose-cannon Bond? Christopher Eccleston as a grouchy old Bond pulled out of retirement for one last mission?

Each film would have its own cast, its own identity, and provide its own unique experience.

Timothy Dalton as M? Aubrey Plaza as Felicia Leitner? Tom Holland as Q?
While I would like to see all those different incarnations, I don't think the danger of falling into a formulaic rut, is a problem. The key elements of Bond have worked for 70 years, audiences seem to not getting tired of it. Although there are at least 2 years between the movies, so there's never an oversaturation.

If you want a dark horse name to consider, after watching The White Lotus Season 2, I wouldn't mind Theo James. I just discovered that he's British. He does a very convincing American accent. He's young, good looking, charming. Has worked on big films before like the Divergent series, already had a starring role on another HBO series this year (The Time Traveler's Wife) , but he's becoming a star before our eyes on this show.

Googled him ... looks too young for my taste. He doesn't look weathered or rugged enough.

How about Robert Pattinson? Surprised his name hasn't come up more.

Googled British actors 30-35. There's a guy named Alex Pettyfer who has the look anyway. He's 32. Ranked #21 sexiest men in the world by Glamour magazine. Never seen him in anything.but he was main character in I Am Number Four. Was 21 then.

I don't know what photos you Googled but he's 37 and pretty rugged. The more I think about it the more I am convinced he'd be a good choice for the role.
He's the young rich guy with a beard in this trailer.

They looked about the same. He needs to go back in the oven for another 10 years or so. I like my Bond battered, not babyfaced.

After watching the excellent first season of Gangs Of London, my vote is for the guy who played Elliot (Sope Dirisu).

The guy has an awesome expressive face, can kick ass believably and pull off street and sophistication attitudes at the same time.

I was really impressed with him and can't wait to start the new season.

I know he's been discussed before, but with the recent news that he's now no longer playing Geralt or Superman, Henry Cavill should have some free time. He'd be my top choice.

Henry is about as close to Bond as you could ever get but they may consider him a bit too old to sign up for like 15 years of movies.

Before Daniel Craig they usually had a Bond movie every 2-3 years. If they get back to that pace they wouldn't need anyone for 15 years

Didn't they say they wanted someone younger to lock up for about that amount of time? Or am I thinking of one of the superhero roles?

“The thing is, it’s going to be a couple of years off,” she notes. “And when we cast Bond, it’s a 10-, 12-year commitment. So he’s probably thinking, ‘Do I really want that thing? Not everybody wants to do that. It was hard enough getting [Daniel Craig to do it].” Wilson interjects: “And he was in his early 30s at the time!”

Re: Who would you like to see become the next James Bond? **New and Improved 2020 Pandemic Edition**

Another confirmation that Taylor-Johnson did meet about the role.

And, obviously, the granddaddy of casting coups: James Bond. The Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumors are true—he sat with producer Barbara Broccoli, and the meeting went well, per sources. But while Taylor-Johnson fits the bill—great actor, British, fits the younger direction the Broccolis want to go, accomplished but not particularly famous—he’s about to be a much bigger star. If Sony’s Spider-Man spinoff Kraven the Hunter or Universal’s Ryan Gosling two-hander The Fall Guy works, Taylor-Johnson might end up, ironically, too famous to take on Bond.

well that is a vastly different feel than Daniel Craing but I do like Taylor Johnson, he can play comedy and is somewhat serious from what I have seen so he could be a decent choice.

thanks for The Witcher spoiler 😜. But I thought the end credits of Black Adam ensured he was going still play Supes.

It's not a The Witcher spoiler. The role has been recast so Cavell could play Supes. But that's not happening now.

And he's much too old to start a Bond career now.

Oh, I didn’t know recast. I like him in the role of Geralt though. Too bad. And what happened between post credits in Black Adam and today? The movie practically just came out.

I'd disagree with him being too old. Cavill is 39 currently.
Other actors when they first played Bond:
Connery - 32
Lazenby - 30
Moore - 46
Dalton - 41
Brosnan - 42
Craig - 38

TPTB may possibly want someone younger this time, but Cavill's age is in line with the last four Bonds when they started.

I think it's premature to have any kind of opinion on ATJ yet. He hasn't won the part yet. Let's see who else auditions. And we're not going to see a new movie go into production for probably at least 2 maybe 3 years.

I don't share the feeling that Aaron Taylor-Johnson could be to famous. Kick-Ass 2 was released 10 years ago, he starred in big movies like Godzilla and Age of Ultron, but his career never got any steam and years later he still was only in small part in Tenet. I always liked his performances, when he popped up somewhere, but Kraven won't make him to famous either.

This guy should be the next Bond--and he comes with his own Moneypenny, Q, and M.
