Re: Chadwick Boseman dead at 43

So sad to hear this. I was looking forward to seeing him again in Black Panther 2. Colon cancer is so fucking awful. I had a cousin die in his 30s from it. I heard he was screaming from the pain in his last days.

This year just gets darker and darker.

"In my culture, death is not the end. It's more of a stepping off point. You reach out with both hands and Bast and Sekhmet, they lead you into a green veld where... you can run forever."

R.I.P. Chadwick Boseman. Wakanda Forever.

I fell asleep early tonight and just woke up to read this shocking and very sad news. Same thing I felt when Phillip Seymour Hoffman died...a great actor dying too young.

R.I.P. :rip:

I love this so much.

The fact that Boseman managed to work on 9 movies including Black Panther, 2 Avengers movies, 21 Bridges and Da 5 Blood while diagnosed with a terminal illness is simply astounding. He may have looked strong, fit and healthy, but who knows how much exhaustion, pain and suffering he was going through including the chemo, meds and surgery. The dude was a warrior.

Me, too.

That was great. I had forgotten about that. Thanks for re-posting it.

Absolutely. And I think that's why this is so shocking for most people - he seemed so vital and energetic and healthy and strong...

...but in reality he was fighting for his life. The fact that he was doing that while doing such physical movies is amazing.

This is an unexpected and terrible news. RIP Chadwick Boseman.

After being out all day, I turned on the local news at 11 p.m. to hear this devastating news. Totally shocked and saddened by it. The guy was a very versatile actor who (in my eyes) never gave a bad performance. Such a tragic loss.

(As a kid I bought Fantastic Four #52 which introduced The Black Panther. I still have the comic.)

I was fast forwarding the 11th hour and never expected to hear this from Brian Williams.

He seemed like a humble decent guy and remember watching his interview with Larry King last year and his appearances on Fallon.

Never made a big deal of his weight loss and assumed it was for a role or roles. Never knew 21 Bridges which i saw a couple of months ago would be the last movie he did.

i was thinking of watching his James Brown movie again if it aired on HBO.Hollywood is greedy and will make another Black Panther movie since they rebooted Spiderman only 4 years after Spider-Man 3 with another origin movie.

It's not. Ma Rainey's Black Bottom is completed and yet to come out.

Wow, I thought this guy would be entertaining us for years to come. Such a charismatic actor. I first saw him as Jackie Robinson in 42, which I loved hm in the role. Of course, he will always be Black Panther. I'm sad that we'll never get a sequel with him in the role. I'd rather they not recast, but Wakanda was such an interesting place. I'm ok if there's no more movies with T'Challa as the main character. Just sad that such a promising talent is gone when he had so many more great years ahead sans cancer. I didn't even know he was sick. RIP, Chadwick. I'll watch your movies with appreciation.

Sad to hear his death from colon cancer, didn't know he was slowing dying. My mom died form colon cancer and was painful for me to see her in coma in the hospital. I always tell everyone who 50 years or older to get a colonoscopy (I have two done on me), but since he died at age 43 maybe it not a bad ideal to get one earlier.

In the last year or so, I had seen posts speculating about his health and indications that Marvel was already looking at Shuri taking over as Black Panther. That surprised me, but it certainly makes a lot more sense now. Unbelievably sad.

All due respect, don't kid yourself. That's the FIRST thing the suits at Marvel and Disney thought about. Because money, and loads of it.

Those who worked directly with him and had a relationship with him are mourning. The number crunchers are already talking about how to proceed with Black Panther 2. No doubt about it.

Yep, as said as a death is with someone fairly young, life goes on and these movies are an onging never ending process. Every movie is tied together and have to be mapped out years in advance. I'm sure Marvel/Disney has contingency plans should any of the lead actors from any of these movies encounter an untimely demise. Don't most studios have insurance policies out on their principle actors for most moives should anything happen to them in the middle of production?

Man, was stunned by the news last ngiht. Didn't think much of Black Panther as a movie but came to love Boseman in the role.

Re: Chadwick Boseman dead at 43

Screen Rant wrote an article last night on with Boseman's passing, how should Marvel proceed with Black Panther 2? They got their heads torn off right away that it was in extremely poor taste and awful timing. And I agree it was. No one gives a shit about that right now. Give it 6 months to a year at the earliest to talk about it maybe. They quickly deleted the article.
