Let Him Go (2020) -- S: Kevin Costner, Diane Lane
Academy Award nominee Diane Lane and Academy Award winner Kevin Costner star in #LetHimGo. In theaters this November. Following the loss of their son, retired sheriff George Blackledge (Costner) and his wife Margaret (Lane) leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas, headed by matriarch Blanche Weboy. When they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go, George and Margaret are left with no choice but to fight for their family.

The chemistry between those two was really the ONLY thing I liked in Man of Steel. I'm interested.

May check it out after reading the book. Larry Watson's "American Boy" was good, so I'll give the book and then movie a shot.

Damn. That looks good.
Yeah, in that situation I'd definitely go all Rambo on them. Looks like they try reason first. We all know how that works out...

This opens on Friday or Thursday night. Reviews have been pretty decent so far,
I'm going to hopefully try to see this on Friday. It's a Focus Features movie (owned by Universal) so it's only going to be playing at AMC theatres because they have that special deal with VOD.
It will be on premium VOD in 17 days.

Just got back from seeing it. There was probably around 20 people in the auditorium as it's the 1st decent new movie in months. So I guess this attracted some people to come out tonight.
It's a really solid thriller. Costner and Lane are really good in this and still have great chemistry like they did in Man of Steel. The movie is pretty simple and it's also very dark. One scene in it features a very tense and gruesome standoff. Overall I thought it was quite effective. Lesley Manville also makes a good villainess. Similar to a Ma Barker type.
If you can or are willing to go to the theatre, I think it's worth seeing. Costner and Lane alone made it worth it for me. If you can't go, then just wait until it hits VOD in a few weeks.

I saw it Saturday night at 8:15 and there were four people in the theater.
Excellent film with solid characters. I was reminded of the films directed by Clint Eastwood.

Very tense and suspenseful. Also a very unpleasant story, but told so well that I was completely engaged instead of left feeling unhappy. Can't believe the only thing I've seen the lead villainess in is Another Year, she was fantastic (and those thick pork chops she cooked looked really tasty).

My wife and I saw this Monday night with 2 other people. The movie is ok but it felt very generic at times. The performances were pretty good and the two suspense scenes were well done. The ending sort of fell flat for me. Looking back at it, I sort of don't like Lane's character either. She was somewhat arrogant and selfish. It was enjoyable enough for being a slow burn but I wish it had been a little more interesting overall. It's the sort of movie that you like after you've seen it but a few years from now will be completely forgotten.

I saw it the other night. It was pretty good. A slow burn... and as mentioned... Eastwood like.
Diane Lane is still gorgeous.

Watched this tonight and loved it. It was a nice slow burn drama/thriller. I felt that both Lane and Costner turned in their best performance in years. Especially Lane who practically carried the film. I don't expect any Oscar nominations but surprised it's not even mentioned on Gold Derby. And yet "Mulan", "Borat" and "The Prom" are. I would give this a solid 9/10. And I'll definitely buy it on Blu Ray. The cinematography is stunning.

Holy shit was this an intense, suspenseful, incredibly acted thriller. So tense. Lane and Costner were just superb. These are the smaller, low budget movies that make such an impactful impression that just stay with you long after they are finished. Just smart, tense and filled with such drama it’s like you can hardly keep breath. Just great. Wish it would have ended a little differently, but I guess it was the only way. Lane should absolutely be recognized come Oscar time. She does carry the movie. She is the heart and soul and one badass momma. Must see!

I saw it Monday as a Redbox freebie. I thought the acting and story were really great, up until the ending. Maybe it's me - I've been watching a lot of movies lately and
I had hoped for a more satisfying ending, but I'd still recommend it for anyone and am disappointed Diane Lane didn't get an Oscar nomination.

no different than ending. i think it was the culmination and was always building to something like that. absolutely was the intent i am convinced. nothing to do with morality or whatever. that's a different movie entirely. not this intense thriller carried on the shoulders of great ones, especially the sublime Lane who did deserve Oscar nod. i mean the girl from Borat over Lane? perhaps different category and guess can consider Lane as lead, but could have been promoted for supporting, i guess.
