Here is Kelly Preston 2 years ago when she was promoting her last film Gotti.

She still looks really good here. And this is probably around the time where she got her diagnosis.

Just wonder if it was more of a case of her not wanting to go through harsh chemo treatments? Regardless of religious beliefs, I have seen many who seek out alt medicines just to avoid the roughness of chemo treatments. She also might not have received the diagnosis until the cancer was at an already advanced stage.

Somehow, I think the only movie I've seen her in is From Dusk Till Dawn, and I don't think she had a big part in it. Maybe The Cat in the Hat, if I ever put that on for my kids.

I always got her confused with Kyra Sedgewick. At first, I thought it was she that had died the other day and I started feeling bad for Kevin Bacon.

Kelly Preston was in Death Sentence with Kevin Bacon.

One degree!

You Mr. Pop culture with like 20,000 hours of movies and shows recorded have never seen a movie with Kelly Preston? What kind of Generation X-er are you??

Yup, my bad. Most of the stuff she's been in really isn't in my wheelhouse. She's never been in a superhero movie or big sci-fi movie (other than Battlefield Earth). Really, other than Jerry Maguire, she wasn't ever in a big hit movie from what I can tell. I do have Christine on disc, but haven't watched it yet.

For the Love of the Game, Jack Frost, and Sky High were moderate box office successes where she had a starring role. I guess Cat and the Hat too, but I didn't really enjoy that one.

Inside Edition did a story on her yesterday. They said she was being treated by one of the top cancer treatment centers in the country in Houston. They had a recent picture of her and it looked like she was wearing a wig from chemo. They also had an expert saying that having a child at age 48 may have fueled her breast cancer with its surge of estrogen late in adult life. She had another child late in life when her child died from a seizure several years ago.

Yeah I just saw that report. The recent video was from Easter and she did not look well and was wearing a wig.

Yes, it was. Forgot about that one. I probably should have seen it at the time. Maybe Arnold in comedy was off putting to me.

If there is one bright side to this probably nobody except her family ever saw her at her worst and she will probably look the way we remember her from movies and TV appearances and never saw her age,

She was really good in "Citizen Ruth" as Swoosie Kurtz's lesbian lover Teresa...

One of her youngest kid was born in 2010, so she was around 47 when she had him/her? I wonder if that contributed to the cancer.

DJariya 07-19-20 12:54 PM

Re: Kelly Preston dead at 57

Yes she and Travolta had another kid when she was 48 shortly after their son Jett died. Some doctors think her having another kid at that age may have contributed to her breast cancer developing.

why is having a baby at an older age linked to breast cancer?

Because it secretes hormones into her body that can cause it. Especially at an older age. That's why it's highly discouraged for women over 40 to have children.

Re: Kelly Preston dead at 57

Oh. That sucks. Seems like a high penalty to pay just for having a kid (while you still can) later in life. Either way, just sad when all these people, even though may not be in limelight currently die at such a young age. Anything can hit anyone at any age and it fucking sucks.

She was in a few Travolta flicks, wasn’t she? Didn’t she have a bit part in the highly acclaimed Battlefield Earth with aforementioned Travolta? It’s too bad neither one really stuck around. Travolta arguably more successful at 2 different times, but Preston really never caught on and that’s too bad. I think she’s pretty and good. But, we all know that’s not always what Hollywood is looking for...

Mischief probably was dumped from HBO or the other premium channels since that kind of movie would be in heavy rotation in the 80's.

OldBoy 07-22-20 07:34 PM

Re: Kelly Preston dead at 57

i think it was on one of the pay channels recently i believe. i'm glad i have the DVD. it really is a gem of a movie and rises above the typical teen sex comedy. it is charming as Finisher said. i think a lot has to do with McKeon and Catherine Mary Stewart is always good.

Yeah, I watched Mischief for the first time a few years ago because I learned it had Catherine Mary Stewart, whom I had a big crush on in my youth. I was pleasantly surprised by Kelly Preston's scenes. :eyebrow:

Re: Kelly Preston dead at 57

I typed Mischief in the search engine on my smart TV and it was not on cable or any streaming channel.

mwbmis 07-23-20 07:04 PM

Re: Kelly Preston dead at 57

Her only 80s movies available for streaming appear to be Christine, 52 Pickup, Spellbinder, Twins, and the Experts.
