It’s now official

So much for spoilers but it's such good news, I don't care.

Every major trade announced it and Cavill announced it on social media.

I’m planning on seeing Black Adam later this week.

Oh I don't mean the Cavill returning part I mean the BA part. I've been avoiding spoilers since I haven't seen it yet but I do realize it was heavily heavily rumored for a long time and I'm sure people tweeted about it right after seeing the movie.

That’s why the internet sucks. Even if I avoid a specific thread to avoid spoilers, shit still gets spoiled in a completely different thread.

I wasn’t intending to upset you. But it’s literally everywhere. I haven’t seen Black Adam yet either, but The Rock has basically said on his press tour for days now indirectly. Every major news publication is already reporting it. This was never going to be kept 100 secret. If you weren’t planning to see BA until it hits HBO Max in 2023, it would have been nearly impossible to be spoiler free. Hell, Cavill is probably going to be interviewed everywhere. Trying to completely block every major news and entertainment outlet about BA until 2023 just simply wouldn’t be feasible IMO.

I know you and many others try to go into movies 100 pct clean, but this movie wasn’t going to be that.

This has been the worst kept secret since No Way Home, its impossible to avoid.

With that said, Cavill is awesome, so bring it on.

No man, you’re good. I wasn’t necessarily upset with you. Just everything you pointed out is why the internet sucks. Every person and publication tries to get in first with any news about upcoming movies. They all have to be “firsties” that they’ll spoil movies without a second thought. It’s also shitty that The Rock will spoil that kind of thing to garner anticipation for a movie that he sees might struggle at the B.O.

That’s why I appreciate people like JJ Abrams. Love him or hate him at least understands that sometimes the unknown in a movie is preferred. I can appreciate that he goes to extremes to keep his movies under wraps.

I mean part of it is because even JJ doesn't know what's really in the mystery box... ;)

This is good news. Now put together a good movie for him to work in.

Seems that's already in the works, but they've yet to hire a writer. Since all the official posts are tagged #TheDawnOfHope (https://mobile.twitter.com/search?q=%23TheDawnOfHope), rumor is the movie will be in fact called Superman: The Dawn of Hope.

Hell, ABC News just posted the news. This is way too big for anyone to think it could be bottled up. Yeah I'm sorry for those who now think BA is completely ruined, but this is the news culture we're in

Again, I’m certainly not blaming you but that‘s the problem. Seriously Cavill, you wanted to wait until enough people saw Black Adam before you posted the news? It’s the day after opening fucking weekend!

I get that that’s the world we live in now but I can also say it’s bullshit too. The spoiler etiquette from even just a few years ago is no more.

See this tweet seems fine to me. I didn't like the earlier one that referenced BA, but this one just seems like Cavill came back.

How bad must the film be if spoiling a cameo in post credits scene that is unconnected to the plot of the movie at large, "completely ruins" Black Adam?

Re: Henry Cavill to return as Superman in DCEU?

I think being a DC movie was enough to ruin Black Adam. The only DC movie i really enjoyed was Cavil as Superman thus far and I don't think BA is worth a watch even with the spoiler.

To be fair, no one actually said it completely ruined Black Adam (at least no one said it here). Some people just think that those little surprises add to the overall enjoyment of a movie - the movie going experience. I know, personally, I get more enjoyment out of seeing that revealed as I’m watching the movie than I do reading a tweet.

My question would be, how bad must the film be if spoiling a cameo is your best bet to actually get people to watch your movie?
