If The Flash movie does well but it wipes out the current continuity how do they have a sequel and still keep their current properties set in that universe like Aquaman, WW, Shazam, Black Adam going? It really makes no sense.

On top of that they have movies like The Batman and Joker which are in their own mini-universes (both which will no doubt have sequels).

What are they doing over there?

I don't even think that was the problem, but BvS ALSO served as a set-up for Justice League and ALSO introduced Lex Luthor and ALSO adapted the Death of Superman. I think a focused narrative contrasting the two heroes could've worked well, emphasized Superman's relevancy against DC's most popular character, and allowed both characters/actors to be better fleshed out and shine. Instead we got what we got.

Let’s just thank God that both their mothers shared the same name or else we wouldn’t have gotten any other films!

Which is better cut of BvS, theatrical or extended?

extended. More cohesive and the explanation for the reasons why people blame Superman for the village destruction is more clear

The problem with that is you have to sit through an even longer crap movie.

DC really just needs to nuke it all with Superman and the rest and start anew.

Appears they did that with the new Batman movie (though I haven't seen it yet, so I have no idea if there are any ties). They need to follow suit with their other characters if so.

I’ve come around more on liking Batman V Superman, but yeah it was way too much story for one film. Even if the extended cut vastly improves the movie.

I feel like had there at least been a sequel to Man of Steel things would have gone more smoothly. It could have been Lex Luthor helping with the destruction caused by Superman and turning Metropolis on him.

That way you would still address whether or not Superman is a threat or not, but wouldn’t have to have had him fight Batman in their first meeting (something I was never a fan of).

After that we could have gotten a Batman and Superman movie where they just meet and don’t necessarily fight.

I think it's fairly obvious that they wanted to mimic the MCU, but wanted to have the same success that Disney did without putting in the risk sweat equity to develop it. They tried to go from Iron Man to Infinity War in five movies.

What is oddly frustrating is how they had a really great opportunity to have a cohesive universe right out of the gate.

Disney had to build the MCU without Spider-man, the Fantastic Four, or the X-Men. But they did it, anyway.

Warners had access to all of the DC properties right out of the gate, but instead trying to build something using all of the tools they had available, they balkanized it themselves. They could have made a Titans series that was canon with the films, but instead, they made the cheap-looking shitshow for their streaming service. Gotham and Krypton could have been prequel series for Cavill's Superman and Affleck's Batman, but they weren't.

There's so much cool shit they could have done with all of the toys they had, but they fumbled the ball every time they were handed it.

The rumor heading into this weekend’s Comic Con.

^ Hopefully that’s the case. Cavill is an awesome Superman. He’s just been given shit material so far.

His Superman has been best when he’s given a little lighter material and he’s able to take the character in a more lighthearted direction. Unfortunately, we’ve only seen glimmers of that so far.

Cavill is the only Superman for me, so I hope this comes to fruition.

Be nice if Cavill makes an appearance in the upcoming Shazam movie. Seems like a good fit.

Reports are The Rock talked new Warners CEO David Zaslav into a post-credit scene. Zaslav reportedly cancelled the other Superman ideas (like another reboot with a new actor) to bring Cavill back for at least one more standalone film.

Considering the casting of Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman is easily the best thing to come out of the Snyderverse, I'm all for seeing more of them in different hands!

The Snyder loonies are upset that Cavill didn’t show up at SDCC.

It was never confirmed. Like I said a few days ago, it was a "rumor" that originated from Deadline, who is a pretty reliable publication.

DC just used their panel to promote Shazam and Black Adam.

Right I never fully believed or expected he’d show (wouldn’t have minded if he did). Some people take anything from the Snyder-verse as gospel and get all kinds of upset when they don’t get their way.

Re: Henry Cavill to return as Superman in DCEU?

I'm disappointed. A Superman film with him and the new Supergirl from Flashpoint could be a great movie...they could ignore everything else from Snyder's films. Also would've been a lot more excited for Black Adam if he was in it.

It was telling though that Shazam didn't mention Superman in his trailer...

Re: Henry Cavill to return as Superman in DCEU?

I'm sure we're all aware and I posted this in the other thread but the Rock sure seems like he really wants Cavill back:

But I doubt he's in this movie unless it's a cameo shot at the last second or something.

Re: Henry Cavill to return as Superman in DCEU?

It sure does seem like the rock knows something we don't - not saying he does, just seems like it.

The rock has always seemed like a traditionalist to me and you can tell he really wants Cavill back so he can work with him due to his iconic status as Superman.

I'm not a rock fan at all but Black Adam looks pretty damn good and will definitely be the first rock movie I ever watch.
