I used to glue my tickets to pages of a notebook, but I lost it somehow and stopped after that. I do still keep my concert tickets and prefer getting a physical ticket versus a digital one.

Amused by all of this. My cinema in a country town still does not offer any nonphysical ticket purchase option - not even phoning ahead to pre-book tickets. You walk in, stand in line, buy your ticket, walk to the cinema where the usher decides whether or not just bought ticket will be honoured or not, and if you are lucky, admitted to the cinema.

Concerts will be physical tickets. Movies, online and code to the phone.

These are random ticket stubs from my collection, all from the 1970s, I believe, although the $4.00 ones may be from 1980, representing 19 different theaters I used to go to, most within walking distance of my apartment building.

Today, I live across the street from one of them, which closed as a theater in 2001 and was, until recently, a supermarket.

Probably at least 7 of the last 10 concerts that I have been to did not offer any physical ticket option.

I usually order in advance, but if it’s an empty theater, my wife doesn’t like paying the fees so I get tickets there.

I used to like physical keepsakes especially for live events, but those are getting more rare, and I don’t care as much as I used to.

When I saw Captain Marvel, I happened to get seats for the LIEMAX showing on opening day, so they gave us these. I still have them.

I would buy my tickets online in advance if the Cinemark theater I frequent did not charge $1.50 for the transaction. I only buy in advance if it's going to be tough getting a ticket right before the show.

I don’t really go to concerts very often at all since I generally have to travel for them and normally have to take time off from work to go. So I’m kinda choosy what I go to. I have noticed how some concerts charge a considerable amount more to have a physical ticket mailed, which I think is kinda bullshit.

For whatever reason I've ended up collecting all my stubs. 1995 being the oldest. (Dangerous Minds). I never do digital tickets.

They're passing on the cost of ticket paper stock and shipping on to the customer.

Many things are strictly mobile tickets now.

I still get physical tickets, and keep them in a binder (using baseball card sleeves). They go back to 1998. I get an e-ticket, every once in a while, but my main theaters still do paper tickets only.

Yeah, but one I saw recently was like $25. That’s just dumb. In the past they always offered it as a free option. I could see maybe a small charge, but it seems like just another way for Ticketmaster to price gouge people like they do with all their other fees. I think a lot of people do collect concert ticket stubs and they probably know they can get away with it.

They make it that cost to deter you from even selecting it. It's ridiculous.

Yeah. I could see like a $5 charge maybe. I’m one of the idiots who probably will select the printed option next time I see a show because like I say I don’t go to concerts very often.

If you had been able to get the ushers not to rip the tickets, because you were going to save them, I bet you would have been able to sell that whole lot today for some good money.

Nobody ever had an inkling back then that these things would gain value some day. Besides, the ushers would have looked at me like I was crazy--as they were blithely ripping the ticket.

My local Regal doesn’t rip the tickets anymore, they just lightly bend a corner. Ive been saving all my tickets the last dozen years or so, wish I’d thought of that as a kid. It’d be cool to look thru them.

Saving concert ticket stubs is a must for me. It's a shame that many venues have gone to the virtual ticket.

Off topic, does anyone know if there is a thread for members selling Hollywood Movie Money or eMovieCash?

AMC A list member, so no fees. Use their app. Typically, we only buy tickets a few days to a week in advance. It's convenient, but the service is a pain due to their insistence you show an ID at the same time your show your mobile ticket. Just showing the QR code in their app ought to be enough. It's aggravating to have to haul out your wallet.

Only get printed tickets for Disney flicks as I'm a Disney Insiders member, and I have to scan stubs and upload them to get points. They made some website changes not long ago that made it easier to scan and upload tickets, but introduced a 14 day time frame for you to do it. Wasn't aware of that change and missed getting points for four tickets to Rise of Skywalker 3D. That's a lot of points as you get more points for 3D films.

Another problem with Disney's points for tickets program is that lately they have given points for two movies that were not Disney flicks. Spies in Disguise and Call of the Wild. Didn't know about Spies until afterward and didn't get printed tickets. CotW I was sure (but didn't know) was a Disney flick, so I got printed tickets just in case. Not a Disney flick... it was 20th Century Fox, and yep... Disney gave points.

21 years ago I started a movie ticket book collecting nearly every ticket from the movies I go to, I’ve finally filled it up (nearly 800 tickets). Now for some symmetry, first movie in the first book is Star Wars Ep. 1, first page in the new book has my Ep. 9 ticket.
