Honestly, I'll be shocked if the RJ trilogy happens. I don't know if they already inked a deal with him prior to all TLJ backlash, but I wouldn't be surprised if his trilogy either turned into one stand alone movie, something for Disney + or just nothing at all.

Something I just started thinking about... I honestly think SW peaked for me in 95, with the re-release of the trilogy on VHS. Oh how little did we know George really meant "one...last...time" on that old teaser that played before the movies we just bought.(again) I guess my question is - knowing what we know now.. would we have been better off having no new movies from that point on? SW still seemed mostly untouchable (despite Jedi being a big step down from the first two imo) We'd still have the books, comics, etc that came after (I never got too deep into them) I'm probably being selfish, no doubt many kids have become SW fans through all of the content (such as it is) since than... but, as it stands now...SW is just another aging franchise being propped up by nostalgia. Here's hoping the Old Republic trilogy (and streaming shows) can change that...it's just not something I'd bet on at this point.

The Back to the Future Trilogy as much as I love it is a pretty different beast compared with something like Star Wars. Those films told a complete story over three films (and yeah I know it was intended as a stand-alone film, but the sequels are worthy). I think it’s one of the best trilogies ever made, and I think that Zemeckis and Gale are smart to retain creative control over any sequels or remakes because I really think anything further would just feel tacked on or that a remake likely wouldn’t capture the same magic as the original. Star Wars always has had room to grow. It just unfortunately has not always done so in ways that are pleasing to certain segments of the fanbase. I think there’s a lot to delve into and potential for many great stories to come out of the universe it created. |

According to zemekis and gale It was never intended to have a sequel and the ending was a joke. As evidence they point out what a pain in the ass Jennifer’s presence turned out to be. They say they wouldn’t have had her in the scene if there was going to be a sequel. |

Agreed. Leave BTTF alone. I’ve seen it as much as any movie, and love it as much as any movie I’ve ever seen. It’s just movie magic. The sequels proved you really couldn’t make it any better than the first time.

The Last Jedi is a fucking disgrace. Not just a bad Star Wars movie but a bad movie period.
It shit on the legacy of Luke Skywalker to the point where the actor hates the movie and what they did to his character. Colossally bad decisions in the plot and pacing by a tone deaf writer/director given complete control by an inept group at Disney who for some mind boggling reason didn't have a cohesive 3 movie arc penned out after 40 fucking years of people drooling for one! Insanity! Fuck Rian Johnson in the ass with a double bladed, double hilted lightsaber wielded by an epileptic Wampa. |

I think this thread is also useless. But to bring it on track, I am a little confused about the SW movies on the docket, or rumored to be. My understanding is: One is Rian Johnsons trilogy, that I don't think will see the light of day, but is supposed to take place at the same time as the SW we know but in a different part of the galaxy? One is a Knights of the Old Republic trilogy (or singled movie?) from the Game of Thrones guys. Or are they doing something else, and if so, what? Any others? |
