You're 100% right. I need to accept that and move on. But oh what a great freedom to know I won't spent another buck on anything Halloween. I have saved so much. I stopped giving bucks to Halloween which the last draw was Halloween 5 DVD. Since then not a single buck given.
Adios Halloween!

I grew up with Halloween. So it always held a special place in my heart. But there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough. The timing was just right. After watching H20 on TV I dipped and so did my feelings.

Two big-time scoopers just dropped a monster bomb on the very first episode of Jeff Sneider‘s new podcast The Sneider Cut, which also featured respected Variety writer Justin Kroll discussing recent big stories. The two reporters both heard the exact same bit of information: that director David Gordon Green is bringing Tommy Doyle back to Haddonfield for Halloween Kills!
Doyle was first played by Brian Andrews in John Carpenter’s original 1978 Halloween and was one of the two children that Jamie Lee Curtis‘ Laurie Strode was babysitting the night that He came home. Tommy also spotted the “boogeyman” across the street only to have Laurie brush it off to their detriment.
Paul Rudd would also portray the character in the 1995 Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, and interestingly, Kroll said he had heard that Rudd was offered the role in the new film, but had to turn it down as he’s currently filming Ghostbusters. They both suggested that someone else has been cast, although none of this is confirmed at this time.
Rudd would have been an interesting move being that Halloween 2018 retconned all of the sequels, which would have included the 1995 film. Even in pretending that the sequels never existed, it would have worked out to plug Rudd back into the role that he’s always openly celebrated throughout his career.
With all that said, Doyle has seen the boogeyman, survived him, and could be back to witness Laurie’s final showdown with him. Holy crap.

Even if Halloween 6 never happened in this continuity, it would be hilarious if they still got Paul Rudd to play him.
I saw Brian Andrews at a horror con a few years ago and he didn't look so great. Maybe it was jet lag, but he seemed like he might have been hung over. I figure the part of Tommy in this one will be a recast. Kyle Richards would probably love to come back as Lindsey Wallace (she was at the most recent premiere), but she has the taint of the "Real Housewives" franchise attached to her.
Not sure if he's still well enough to act (no IMDb credits since 2007), but I'd love to see Charles Cyphers return for a Sheriff Brackett cameo. I met him briefly a few years back (same convention I mentioned) and he was just an awesomely friendly dude.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Sherrif Barker and Cameron. I'm glad they left that thread dangling, it will be very interesting to see Allyson's interaction with her asshole boyfriend after her experience in the previous film

Brian Andrews is a creepy weirdo these days; no way they'd bring him back.
Cool to see Castle is coming back for a couple hours' work again.

‘Halloween Kills’: Anthony Michael Hall Joins Horror Sequel (EXCLUSIVE)
https://variety.com/2019/film/news/h...le-1203314430/
Anthony Michael Hall will join Jamie Lee Curtis in “Halloween Kills,” the latest sequel in Blumhouse and Universal’s horror franchise.
Hall will portray Tommy Doyle, a character who first appeared in the original “Halloween” movie as one of the kids Laurie Strode (Curtis) babysat the night Michael Myers reigned terror on the small town. Doyle’s character (portrayed in that movie by Paul Rudd) returned in 1995’s “Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.” In that film, Doyle teamed with the iconic Dr. Loomis to help stop Myers again.

So Michael goes for random victims, but he still wants to finish what he started first with Laurie and now presumably with Tommy. Why was a clean slate necessary again? Other than to wipe out the sibling aspect which some people didn’t like it’s seeming kinda pointless.

Season of the Witch Actor Tom Atkins wishes he could make a cameo in the next Halloween films. Could someone make this happen?

Some franchises are eternal and will never truly end...this is one of them.
So everyone saying they wish it would end are delusional if they think that is remotely an option. Either sit back and enjoy a new Halloween movie or just don't watch them anymore. But it will never end...

Anthony Michael Hall, honestly, is a good choice for the role, even if I would've preferred Rudd come back. I liked him during his Breakfast Club/Weird Science days, but I also liked him on The Dead Zone back when it was on USA. I don't understand why they've never brought back Lindsey, the other child she was babysitting, though, or Sheriff Brackett. You'd think Brackett would've been more obsessed than Loomis after Michael killed his daughter.

Imma let ya finish but is that the official plot for kills though? A part of what I liked with the 2018 film is that it appeared that Michael had no interest at all in Laurie and just wanted to do his thang. It would be cool to see Tommy and Laurie go after him but I would definitely want to see another element in Michael's arsenal at the point to, mainly because people are supposed to be terrified of him and not try and hunt him down. Now, as for what that element for Michael would be, as already mentioned in this thread by numerous people, who the hell knows at this point.

The problem with having Paul Rudd reprise the role is they'd have to explain why he hasn't aged since Halloween 6.

Right. He's 50 but looks like he's still in his late twenties.

re: Halloween Kills (2021) / Halloween Ends (2022) - D: Green
Michael Myers was entirely uninterested in Laurie in the most recent movie. It was only because of outside intervention from Dr. Sartain that they even crossed paths. I would imagine the next movie deals a lot with the effect of that night's events on Allyson. It would be interesting to see Laurie learn that Michael survive the house fire and then watch her paranoia increase as he makes no effort to come after her. Not sure at all how Tommy Doyle will have been coping with his memories or what his role might be in the movie, but a big theme of Halloween (2018) was how characters deal with trauma in different ways, so it makes sense that Green/McBride would want to bring back more surviving characters from the original.

Why? I get the appeal to satisfy longtime series fans but bringing back old characters keeps the Halloween universe small and makes Michael less scary. Not that I know a thing about the plot, but all this retro/rehash/nostalgia in horror has grown tired.
I don't even feel the need to see Laurie back again.

I'm going to guess that maybe Tommy and Lindsey are married? Maybe they have a teenager that gets involved somehow? Just guessing, but I am really glad they are bringing them both back. I've always wondered how they would have been in later years...

Assuming they go in the direction, it would be an interesting aspect to these movies. We saw how psychologically damaged Laurie was in the last movie, we could see if Tommy and Lindsey are psychologically damaged in the new movies. It would be a fresh take on the series to see how one night of terror decades ago sent ripples through the lives of those how were directly involved.
