I enjoyed it for the most part but 20 or 30 minutes of this could have been trimmed. They could have easily lost the waiter fight club stuff as well as the college part sequence and it wouldn’t have affected the story at all.
I like Davidson’s don’t-give-a-shit humor but I can imagine if you’re not a fan of his, this would be a tough slog.

Thought it was okay, but nothing all that memorable. Big turn off was all the screen time showing Davidson's hideous tattoos stamped all over his entire body. Gross!

I almost balked when I saw the 2+hr runtime for this, but it felt very breezy, and I was surprised it ended where it did because I was expecting more story. I came in with no prejudices for or against the star as I've never seen him anywhere. Bill Burr was fantastic, and I feel he's on the verge of becoming a real actor, like maybe in another ten or fifteen years his career will look like Bob Odenkirk's with Better Call Saul.
I find movies like this where there is no plot, no pressure, to be very relaxing. I never quite warmed up to Scott. I mean, I'm sure it's hard for him being the only person in the world who ever had anything bad happen to them, but I couldn't get over how awful his tattoos were. I was a little taken aback at the end where his mother tears up seeing his work on Bill Burr's back. It seemed to me the scene was going in the direction that Scott had fucked him over by scribbling all this garbage on him, that he had betrayed him, but somehow it wound up being a triumphant moment.
I think there must be tons of deleted scenes, the rhythm of the movie is way off. There's so many parts where it feels like a whole bunch of stuff got skipped over (like where Scott, Bill Burr and his mother are in the car on a road trip, and the next scene is him breaking into the drug store in the middle of the night).
I realize this post sounds less than complimentary, but I enjoyed this movie a lot. If this was the first season of a TV series I'd look forward to watching the next one.

BTW there’s a pretty big discrepancy between what Bill Burr’s character tells Pete (in the above ground pool scene) and what he had previously told his mom about his dad. It is so big and consequential that you would feel pretty certain it would be addressed later, but it never was. Kinda weird, but it must be a deleted scene.
