The final fight, with Spidey and Green Boblin II vs. Venom and Sandman was cool, though.

They could have saved the Sandman as Uncle Ben’s killer thing by having that be a story Eddie Brock created. Spider-Man exposes the lie, and Brock becomes venom. That’s basically what they did in the comics with the Sin-Eater storyline, and what I assumed the storyline of the movie would be when I saw the first trailer.
Instead they had Brock taken down with something a Google Image Search could have revealed.

I loved the trap for Dormammu in the first one. That's a great scene for replay value. It's also the kind of scene that makes me interested to see where Raimi could take the next film, I'm in.

That ending almost redeemed the whole for me.
Not that I hated it. I was just disappointed. Had great expectations for it being something more freaky and unique, but it hewed to formula a little too closely for my taste. The end gambit is where it finally shook that feeling, and I've liked the character in all his subsequent supporting appearances since so I'm back to having high expectations for a Rami follow up.
I was planning on cueing up the first film again soon, so maybe I'll have a more positive reaction on a second watch, with expectations firmly in check.

I love that scene in particular. Just the mind games and gruesome deaths. It was brilliant imo and very Raimi-ish. I liked the movie, a lot, I believe. Think I just saw again on 3D Blu, but liked him more as a character in the Avengers last 2. And of course, Cumberbatch is perfect as have all the casting decisions by Marvel in MCU. Seriously, has there been one character miscast? Not imo. Gonna watch 1st now in fact...

Re: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022, D: Raimi)
EXCLUSIVE: After months speculating whether Rachel McAdams would return to reprise her role in the next Doctor Strange film, sources tell Deadline McAdams has closed a deal to join Benedict Cumberbatch in Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Cumberbatch returns to reprise the title role with Sam Raimi taking over directing duties.
Marvel had no comment.
Benedict Wong and Chiwetel Ejiofor also are expected to reprise their roles from the original film as, respectively, fellow sorcerer Wong and Strange’s compatriot-turned-nemesis Karl Mordo. And Elizabeth Olsen has been tapped to reprise her role as Scarlet Witch, aka Wanda Maximoff. Deadline recently broke that Xochitl Gomez is also joining the cast.
Plot details are unknown at this time as is how big of role McAdams will have. Production will begin after Cumberbatch finishes filming on the next Spider-Man pic, where Cumberbatch also will be playing Doctor Strange.
Raimi replaces original director Scott Derrickson, who departed the project in January due to creative differences. Derrickson remains as an executive producer. Raimi, meanwhile, will need to get up to speed before the film’s scheduled production start date in May.

4/1 or not, it's impossible to not imagine some sort of connection considering the meaning of that ancient tome, and the director involved.

Yeah, but when you tap the front of the chair, it plays a guitar riff: "Diddy-diddy-DAH-doo-DAH! Diddy-diddy-DAAAH-doo-DAH!"

Cumberbatch said on the Today show this morning that they have reshoots scheduled for November and December. Might explain the postponement until May now. They need more time for production.

Maybe, though every Marvel project was moved back 3-6 months, at least.

Looks like the re-shoots for November and December are pretty significant. They are scheduled to work 6 days a week until the end of the year.
Story says it's "re-shoots" and "additional photography" Marvel always schedules reshoots, but additional photography tells me they're writing new scenes.

Re: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022, D: Raimi)
SPEAKING OF SPIDEY and the power of multiverse …
Flinty-eyed Heat Vision readers may recall that we previously wrote about significant reshoots on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Well, in an update on that story, we can tell you that the reshoots are wrapping this week. And we’ve also learned that part of the reshoots may have been spurred by the new Spider-Man movie and the Disney+ Loki series, both of which deal with the multiverse.
It seems like Marvel was jazzed by the many actors crossing paths with each other in No Way Home and the playfulness of having alternate versions of characters appear onscreen in Loki. So they decided to have “more fun with the multiverse,” according to one source, and to include more cameos and character introductions in Doctor Strange 2.
Will these cameos become MCU canon? Only time, and maybe Kang the Conqueror, will tell.

It would be cool to see Raimi
Spoiler:
Seems like a prime opportunity to bring in some X-Men. There are many rumors floating around that may already have been the case…
