Loved the original and the trailer for this looks decent. It's gonna be hard to top Tony Todd though.

I think Tony Todd plays the reflection.

Trailer was alright. I did like Destiny Child’s
“Say My Name” though. Seemed fitting.

Hopefully they don’t accidentally call Beetlejuice it Bloody Mary by mistake.

Love the original film. Will probably give this one a look.

I wonder if it was Jordan Peele's decision to remix the Destiny's Child track in the way that Luniz's I Got 5 On It was remixed for Us. It's a bit silly but I can see why it was used.

I'm willing to give it a shot. I have a feeling Tony Todd was brought in to do some re-shoots after early test screenings of a version minus him got negative reactions. I'm actually more excited that he's going to be playing Scare Glo in the new Masters series by Kevin Smith.

I think this looks good. I know Peele didn’t direct. But it definitely looks like his next movie.

Hmm, that’s good news. As I was watching the new trailer, I kept thinking it would be difficult to replace Tony Todd as the Candyman. Doing a quick check on IMDB, it looks like there’s a few returning cast members from the original.

New trailer is looking pretty good in my opinion. Has the right creepy vibes of the original film if you ask me.

Seems like this film is changing the origin of the character though. I guess that’s fine to put a new spin on it, but I thought this was a continuation of sorts.

Now this I am excited for. Really like the original. Tony Todd owns the role.

Spoiler:
Has anyone else made the connection that the lead's name is the same as the baby's in the original? My wife noticed that once we watched the trailer after a re-watch

Yes, the same actress playing the mother is returning to this as well.

Did not know that one. I hope that the revelation isn't some "big twist" in the story..Still not sure if this is a movie I'm going to run to theaters to or not.

It’ll be on PVOD 3 weeks after release if that’s a preferred.

Lol.

People make a big deal about theatrical exclusives...but 21 days is laughable.

Hope it does well

I'd recommend it. If you're a fan of Clive Barker horror, at least. It's both a little dated, but also holds up well lol

re: Candyman (2021, D: Nia DaCosta, EP: Jordan Peele)

I would say Candyman holds up pretty well. It does have a nineties vibe to it, but it’s still aged well.

I wouldn’t mind seeing this new film, but I might just wait for it to hit PVOD or Blu-ray.

I'd agree on my assessment of the original, too.

Saw the trailer before Old last night and wow, do they say "Candyman" a lot in two and a half minutes.

If reviews here are good, I might have to rent the original since it's not on any of my streaming services. It might be a bee thing since I got stung as a child. Very vivid memory. But then I liked Invasion of the Bee Girls.

I plan to check this out on Friday. I was surprised that this has a Dolby screening available.

It’s on Peacock free with ads.

I saw that but I really dislike watching movies with ads. On the other hand, it's not like I'm very vested in the movie. It might wind up being my best (only) option.

If you get premium, does it remove the ads?

Might be worth it for the month..
