Last Train to New York (2023, D: Tjahjanto, P: Wan) -- Train to Busan remake
James Wan to Produce ‘Train to Busan’ Remake from ‘The Nun’ Writer Gary Dauberman [Updated]

UPDATE: Sources have told Collider’s Jeff Sneider that New Line Cinema is in final negotiations to close a deal for the rights to Train to Busan. Original story below:
Modern day horror world-builder James Wan will produce a remake of the Korean zombie flick Train to Busan with The Nun writer Gary Dauberman providing the script. Deadline reports that a bidding war is a-ragin’ right now over the rights to the remake, with New Line, Universal, Paramount, Lionsgate and Screen Gems all getting in on the action.
Director San-ho Yeon’s film–which follows passengers on a train from Seoul to Busan in the middle of a zombie outbreak—did absolute gangbusters in South Korea and worldwide, taking in $85 million at the box office. The U.S. domestic box office, though, only accounted for $2 million of that take. But if there’s anyone to usher in a successful remake it’s the Wan-Dauberman duo. Wan practically created a modern day horror universe with The Conjuring films, which have branched off into two Annabelle films and The Nun spin-off, all written by Dauberman, who also penned the hit IT adaptation.

Train to Busan was very well done, suspenseful and the characters were likeable without feeling too hollow. The James Wan team is talented and always produce slick looking films, so I'd like to see them work on more creative endeavors instead of the constant spin-offs and now remakes.

I loved Train to Busan. I saw it in the theater when it was released here in the States in limited theaters.
I think the concept can definitely translate to the West. But, it will heavily rely on good casting. Especially for the father, daughter and the female lead.

I liked Train to Busan but found a few of the characters way too cliche'.

EXCLUSIVE: The anticipated Train to Busanremake at New Line looks to be gaining steam as sources tell Deadline that Timo Tjahjanto is in negotiations to helm the pic based on the blockbuster South Korean hit.
Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear and Gaumont’s Nicolas Atlan and Terry Kalagian will produce alongside Coin Operated’s Gary Dauberman, who is adapting the screenplay. Judson Scott, Sidonie Dumas, Christophe Riandee and Johanna Byer are executive producing.

Now has a title. Last Train to New York.
It's mentioned in a short blurb in the Under Siege reboot story in the link above.

Timo Tjahjanto is one of my favorite Directors.
Curious what he does with someone else's script, as he's always worked from his own scripts.
