Emma Stone nekkid? I'm so there, baby! (And so is Jim Carrey).
Seriously, though, this looks interesting. Yorgos is not for everyone, but he's definitely a true, blue original.
The Favourite is a biographical historical film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (Dogtooth, The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer).
Early 18th century. England is at war with the French. Nevertheless, duck racing and pineapple eating are thriving. A frail Queen Anne (Olivia Colman) occupies the throne and her close friend Lady Sarah (Rachel Weisz) governs the country in her stead while tending to Anne’s ill health and mercurial temper.
When a new servant Abigail (Emma Stone) arrives, her charm endears her to Sarah. Sarah takes Abigail under her wing and Abigail sees a chance at a return to her aristocratic roots.
In Theaters November 23rd.

This won the Grand Jury Prize (essentially second place) at Venice. Roma took home the Golden Lion.

Saw this last weekend at the Mill Valley Film Festival.
Fantastic performances from Olivia Colman, Rachel Weisz & Emma Stone.
Definitely Yorgos Lanthimos' most accessible film, which isn't a surprise considering he didn't write the script (which I believe is a first for him).

This opens limited this week and goes wide closer to Christmas. 95% currently on RT.
I'll be in Manhattan for some plays next week and may try and see this if I can. Unless I see Roma instead...
I am really looking forward to this one.

I hated Sacred Deer but this looks great. It's only directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, so that will help. This is playing in Hollywood, so I will probably wait until it goes wide in the coming weeks.

Just got back from this and it was great. It reminded me of a Terry Gilliam film. It should get nominations for production design and cinematography easily. I'd say it's Yorgos' most accessible film - since he didn't write it.

Saw this over the weekend and really enjoyed it for being fun and modern without seeming to be anachronistic. It's much darker and weightier than, say, The Little Hours. The cast is great.

Finally playing in Springfield ... I L-O-V-E-D this.
I haven’t seen his other works, but this was just shy of a masterpiece. Wittily written, phenomenally acted, and well crafted.
I only had one thing that bugged me towards the end ...
I kept expecting the

I'm tempted to drop the spoiler tags since this isn't getting much conversation (sadly) ... but I'll stick with them in deference to our home video crowd.

Same. I didn't care for this much at all. Didn't think it was a bad film, just didn't enjoy it. Felt the same about "The Lobster" and "The Killing of a Sacred Deer". I can see where others would love it though. Wasn't for me, sadly.

Finally saw this today and gosh, I loved it. Like a cross between ‘Heathers’ and ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ with some absolutely outstanding acting. The three women were superb of course (I really don’t think Weiss has ever been better) but also really enjoyed Nicolas Hoult in a very atypical role for him.

I watched this again over the weekend. It's so, so good. While not movie of the year, definitely better than any of the other Best Picture nominees.
