re: Boba: A Star Wars Story
I'll be 44 in a few days. I grew up with Star Wars and I would have given my left eye as a kid for this abundance of riches that we have now.
I loved The Force Awakens and I absolutely adore Rogue One. The Last Jedi wasn't horrible, but did miss the mark in a lot of ways.
I'm excited to see Solo this weekend, and I'm damn excited for the Obi Wan film. I was never a huge Boba Fett fan like many others, but I get the appeal, and I'll certainly go and see it in the theaters and buy it on Bluray.
I'm still looking forward to Rian Johnson's new trilogy and those other films from the Game of Thrones guys and I would love to see "Luke & Leia: A Star Wars Story" showing them growing up on Tatooine and Alderaan and showing the parallels of their lives as they grow up.
But, yeah, I'm not mad about how many movies are coming. I think they could take occasional breaks, let a TV show fill the space here and there, but there's so many amazing stories to tell in this galaxy far, far away. I'm ready to watch.

Rogue One was unnecessary and I loved it.
The idea of a Han Solo prequel movie seemed moronic, but the trailers have been great, and I'll likely watch it next weekend.
I'm going to judge each movie/idea based on their own merit.

He was cool in ESB, but it also felt like they left so much more on the table with him.
By RoTJ, his story function was completely over and having him in Jabba's palace completely changed the character from specialist & independent free agent to generic hanger-on thug, and removed a major element of his appeal (for me).
Also like most of the lingering plot threads from the first two films, he was perfunctorily dispatched in Jedi like a complete bitch.

Calm your tits. I like these characters (maybe not Rose, but she was poorly written) but they are not given the chance to develop the same way the original characters were, because Fan Service.

I’ve been holding off on my Solo comments until I can watch it again (I kept nodding off, not necessarily the movie’s fault) but I will say that I liked the fact that it showed the Empire as a government bureaucracy and an occupying force (albeit too briefly) instead of just the military juggernaut we have seen.
I want world building, not high school reunions.
Now, that said, give me a story about the Mandalorian Wars and a disgraced soldier turned bounty hunter ... give me more about the crime syndicates and the corruption of the Empire ... instead we’ll get a story about why Boba Fett wears different colored armor than his “dad”, how he thinks of Jango every time he flies Slave 1, where he learned the “garbage deployment” maneuver, and how he can never love a woman because he literally had no mother. Oh, and it will happen after ROTJ because, you know, he actually survived a thousand years of digestion. Plus it will have a cameo from young Poe Dameron and BB-8.

I think it'll predate the OT, as they'll be able to use Alden Ehrenreich. He's signed for 3 films, which I believe will be 2 Solo films and this.

A Boba Fett being a ladies man film sounds a lot more interesting the the dreck that Rian Johnson will probably give us with his trilogy.

I would still be interested in Boba Fett on film in some capacity. I don’t know that he needs a solo film, but I think he could be fleshed out better as a villain in a film. Plus Mangold is a pretty good director so I think he might have given us a good film. I’ve liked both of the anthology films so far though and think there are some interesting stories to tell in the existing Star Wars mythos.

Is the new series pretty much about Boba Fett?

But there's a good chance it's about a character that looks like Biba Fett doing Boba Fett-esque things, no?

I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't just some ploy to rehabilitate Fett's image thru the TV series so that when it's eventually revealed that it *IS* Fett, his story would've been more fleshed out and a new movie would be more enticing for fans. I still wouldn't be interested in it.

Okay, so my initial thoughts were right then. I wasn’t entirely sure as I admittedly am not the biggest Jango/Boba fan. Windom’s post made me question whether he actually was Mandalorian or just wore the armor.

Yes and No?
Jango Fett was a renowned Mandalorian bounty hunter, assassin, mercenary, and the "father" of Boba Fett, a genetic clone of his, whom he raised as a son. A Human from Concord Dawn, Fett was adopted by Mandalorian warriors following the murder of his parents and the disappearance of his older sister Arla in 58 BBY. Years later, he would go on to lead them through much of the Mandalorian Civil War as Mandalore. After being imprisoned by Jedi, Fett was responsible for destroying the Death Watch, a Mandalorian group who killed Fett's mentor, Jaster Mereel.
Concord Dawn was an agricultural frontier world in the Mandalore sector of the Outer Rim Territories. The planet had strong ties to the Mandalorians; its population shared many Mandalorian values, and genetic markers specific to the natives of Concord Dawn were present throughout the Mandalorian populace.

My theory (which I’ve posted in the Mandalorian thread) is that Boba will be the cliffhanger revelation at the very end of season 1. Surprise, he’s alive! And then he’ll feature in season 2.

Vader Story should be a sure thing.
Padme coming back?
- recent comic reveals Vader built his castle on Mustafar. Apparently to try bring Padme back.
- yesterday Paris comic con revealed new 6" Black Series Padme.
- Padme appears in Zahn's recent novel Thrawn Alliances. I haven't read this one but probably no big reveals.
