Really ruined it for me. I understand that may be more the way kids talk, but let's face it, just because it's real doesn't mean it works best in film.

This was as much horror as comedy, but Monster Squad didn’t hold up well at all when I recently rewatched it on Hulu.

Monster Squad has a very funny script by legendary writers Shane Black and Fred Decker. A loving homage to the Universal classic monsters. Creature effects by Stan Winston. Actual, good child performances and a very touching performance by the great Tom Noonan. There’s nothing not to like about the film. It even has the decency and restraint to be only 82 minutes long. That alone is something to praise when you look at today’s genre films.

Seeing that Siskel & Ebert clip actually reminded me of an 80s comedy that DOES hold up: Robert Townsend's Hollywood Shuffle (anyone familiar with that movie knows why I connected the Siskel & Ebert bit to Townsend's film.

A very funny skit, but not the one I was thinking of...

Credit first-time director Jeremiah S. Chechik for his sure-handed rein on Christmas Vacation's polar opposites of sentimental and satirical sides.

I agree with everyone that said Spaceballs hasn't aged well. The last time I watched it, I was actually surprised at how unfunny I found it.

I still really like The Naked Gun, Beetlejuice, and Trading Places.
Spaceballs I never really cared for despite loving a handful of visual gags, same goes for Gremlins (though I love Gremlins 2 for some reason).

I always liked Adventures in Baby Sitting, but I recently re-watched it and I didn't think it was funny at all. Maybe the bits with the girl in the bus station but that's it.
But for the most part, I still find a lot of them funny.
Steve Martin movies...hilarious. Man with Two Brains, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels for example.
80s Eddie Murphy, great. Coming to America, and Trading Places.
The best is Better off Dead. A very odd film, even today.

Goonies was one of the shrillest, most unpleasant movie watching experiences I've ever endured. I walked out of that film hating it and everyone associated with it- save for Donner. My abiding love for S:TM has given him a near perpetual pass (at least until Lethal Weapon 3).
