Definitely in the 2000s. A guy is stabbed or beaten after a soccer match. He's the brother/cousin of one of the main characters, possibly the antagonist. If we're remembering right he also might be a bit developmentally disabled.

I don't think it is, but it's been a while since I've seen it. We were thinking more along the lines of the guy getting taken out for revenge purposes. The guy was by himself cheering for whoever the away team was as he left the stadium. He gets into it with some fans of the other team. He either gets beaten or stabbed and left by the stadium.

Hmm... I can kind of picture the scene and I can't place it either. Now it will bug me!

I want to say it is one of those British crime movies, but we can't place it. I can even picture the guy chanting for the team as he's walking out of the stadium, and then gets hassled by opposing fans. The character was always talking about how he's fan of the team (maybe Chelsea or Manchester) and annoying other characters in the movie about it.

It was Eastern Promises! The British part was wrong. I plugged what I had into whatismymovie.com (pretty useful).
