Dirty Dancing with the ‘80s songs, when it’s set in the early ‘60s.

Not to mention, the Scott Joplin music was about 20 years out of date. It would literally be like making a movie about the 80s, with neon lighting and colors and big hair, and having a Beatles soundtrack.

Pulling this up for more examples.

The use of Queen's "We Will Rock You" was used quite awkwardly in the medieval timeframe of "A Knight's Tale" - especially when the characters thump their feet to the beat of the music.

I agree about the Untouchables stairs scene... it's pretty horrible.

It starts off good with a nice sense of peace and calm hiding a feeling of impending conflict, but they it starts to get annoying - and then once the actual breaks out it gets worse.
From the mother who's making the task of of dragging the carriage up the stairs look much harder than it actually is, to the many many continuity errors and the horrible score that's playing.

The Naked Gun 33 1/3 The Final Insult had that great opening scene spoof of the baby carriage scene (overal 33 1/3 was an okay film, but the carriage spoof is pure gold). Sorry for the thread interruption...carry on folks, as I always enjoy threads like this one.

Horrible score? That's a Morricone score. Nothing horrible about it.

Both of the Robert Downey Sherlock Homes movies are perfect examples.

Loved them, but they are awfully anachronistic... and being about a fictional person doesn't exempt them.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? did something similar. It takes place in the 1930s, the music is bluegrass, and people keep referring to it as that good old-fashioned music.

Bluegrass was invented in the 1930s, and it was a brilliant, cutting-edge innovation. If you watch a live performance, you can see that part of the sound is created by using the distance from the microphone. They invented the fade! The microphone, amplification, and radio were new technologies in the 1930s, and bluegrass musicians figured out how to get new sounds out of them.

I don't judge a score by who wrote it, I judge it by the music.
I thought it was bad, or at least what was played in that specific scene... can't remember the rest of the movie.
